The boys had spent the entire afternoon in the food court of the mall. Keith had gotten to the point where there was no actual hope of finding someone to go on a date with, so he would just tell the wildest and most absurd pickup lines possible and try to get girls that way. Casey was having a little more success than him, always having been the one to not struggle with finding a suitable person for dating. Keith was a potato in the realm of dating, showcased by the disastrous date with Amy. He had no idea how Casey could do it. At least he was having more luck than Keith ever did.
After a particularly bad pick up line involving chemistry, Keith slumped down into the chair at the table they were sitting at and watched an exchange between his best friend and a really hot girl. A hot girl that apparently didn't like what Casey was saying as a few seconds later she stomped off as Casey flopped down onto the chair next to Keith with a rueful grin on his face.
"Women." He muttered as he ran a hand through his fluffy hair, already winking at another girl that passed by, though he didn't feel up to having another conversation that ended up going nowhere. He stretched slightly and leaned back before poking Keith in the side. "Movie?" He asked, rolling his eyes at the thought of continuing this pointless way of spending time.
Keith nodded with a relieved sigh as he got up and pushed his chair in. "I thought you'd never get done." He teased and then started to lead the way to the movie theater, not even worrying that Casey wouldn't follow him because he would. The two were inseparable. "What's playing tonight, babe magnet?"
Casey rolled his eyes and gave him a light shove, chuckling when the attendant at the counter seemed to assume that Keith was talking to her and gave him a weird look. "Just get the tickets and stop flirting with me, will you?"
The attendant gave an even weirder look at that comment before promptly slamming down the closed sign and starting to file her nails demonstratively, so they had no choice but to go to the only other person selling tickets that early; an old man that would probably take half an hour to even hear what they wanted to see.
Thankfully, it didn't take them nearly that long; only about seven minutes. By the time they got into the theater, the previews were already rolling. Keith let out a sarcastic sigh as they sat down. "Dammit. We're missing the best part of this movie."
"Yes, because we paid six bucks each for us to see ten minutes of previews." Casey shot back, sheer playfulness in his voice as they both knew very well Keith's opinion that the previews were kind of more epic than the movie itself sometimes.
Keith snorted as he leaned back in his chair to crack his back before relaxing again. "Obviously, definitely didn't come for the two hour long movie."
"Shut up, it's starting." His best friend smacked him on the shoulder lightly as the lights dimmed further and someone in the seats in front of them turned to give them a nasty glare.
Keith leaned forward with an apologetic smile. "I'm shutting up now, I swear." He promised in a not so quiet whisper.
Another glare, he leaned back in the seat again and sighed happily as he and Casey both got lost into the screen; really just enjoying that he was hanging out with Casey instead of the exhausting task of trying to impress the opposite sex enough to where one might have the smallest inkling to go on at least one date with him. Or at least take one home to meet his parents so that they weren't discouraged their family line would end abruptly with their military obsessed son.
There were a few more quiet exchanges about the movie before they both decided to fully pay attention to the film and discuss it later rather than take away from it right then. It was only when Casey leaned over to him to mumble something about going to the bathroom that Keith sort of turned his attention away from the scene playing before them.
