Everything moved in slow motion as the arrows appeared out of nowhere. Grasping the reins of the already nervous horse, I looked up at the sky- praying that this was just a bad dream. The elves around me formed into battle formation with myself in the middle of the circle. I didn't have to be a mind reader to know what they were thinking or for that matter feeling.
A lifetime seemed to past us by, the silence was chocking us and yet we could not move, could not plan for what was too come. All we could do is wait. And wait we did.
" here" I look sharply to my right to see an elf I have yet to have meet holding up a small dagger
" it won't do much, but if you have to use it aim for the nec-" he was cut off as an arrow lodged it self into his chest. That's when all chaos broke loose.

Horrid creature after horrid creature came out the bushes, I knew that but they looked like they had just climbed up from the very earth beneath our feet.
A mixture of beautiful elvish, cries of pain, anger and the black speech filled my ears. Just as quickly as they came, they left. Leaving destruction in their wake.
" Lady Ayanna" shifting my gaze from a fallen Orc to Arveldir who was standing looking up at me.
" are you alright?" Fear and worry filled his voice
Nodding, I take a shaky breathe and turned to look behind the leader of our company, counting the amount of elves I notice one missing.
" where is Nirorndir?" Even though it was a whisper I knew he heard it, spinning around he too did a count before rushing in between his soldiers, conversing so quickly it sounded like music rather than words.
A faint groan alerted me, to a bush nearest me, hopping down. I gripped my belt on one hand and the small dagger in the other, as silently as I could I crept towards the bush, gently peering inside to find long blonde hair mixed with blood and soil.
Rushing towards the fallen elf I began assessing the damage done to him while trying to converse with him. Making sure the panic that was gripping my very heart stayed well away from my tone of voice.
" right bleeding stopped, infection" muttering to myself I didn't notice the group of remaining elves surrounding me and their comrade.
It was already pitch black by the time I felt as though Nirorndir wouldn't succumb to his injuries.
Turning to Arveldir who decided to keep my company and help me out while the rest of the group patched themselves up and began a small fire, I whispered
" he needs magic, I have done all I can"
Looking me in the eye and staying silent for a few moments he nodded and shouted something in elvish
" we'll send scouts and start to move, we should be at our boarder by late dawn"
Nodding I began to place a cool rag on Nirorndir pale forehead, whispering encouragement and prayers until I felt my eyes shut.
Shaking my head and breathing deeply I began gathering the equipment back into my belt.
" you did well" noticing a presence behind me I turn around coming face to face with another elf I had yet to meet.
" forgive me for scaring you my lady, but I could not help but admire your gift. Let me introduce myself, I am Callon my lady"
" I-" looking up at the elf, a small but tired smile appeared " thank you, I just pray he will survive"
Glancing down at the body, a body of a person that I had come to like over my time spent with him. His chest slowly raising and falling, I couldn't help but picture a rather grim morning and with that a grim first meeting with the Elf lord.
