Ash was walking his way back to the farm after he's went to visit Gary. On his way, he stopped at a fountain to drink some water. When he turned off the faucet, three little boys he could recognize ran past him laughing. It reminded him of that laugh he and Gary did when they succeeded in stealing Grandma's cookies from the top of the fridge as kids.
A female voice suddenly called out from behind the fountain, "Wait! It's only paint! It's not money! Come back!"
Ash gasped. He called out at the children, "Jimmy! Carson! Elliot!"
All of them turned around.
"Get. Back. In. Here. Right. NOW!"
They looked frightened, but they walked over to Ash anyway.
"What did you steal? Show me." Ash extended his hand.
They handed Ash a medium sized purse. "Why did you steal it?"
The boys looked at each other.
"Alright, I'm telling your parents."
"No!"
"Please don't!"
"We're sorry!"
"I don't know. Apologize to the lady and see if she accepts. If not, I'm telling your parents."
The three boys rushed to the girl who's been watching the scene. "We're really sorry!"
"We just wanted to see what's a girl's purse is like!" Ash's smiled at that.
"Please forgive us! He's going to tell dad!"
"We're sorry!"
"We're really-"
"Its fine, apology accepted," she finally said, smiling.
The boys felt victorious. "See, she forgave us! You won't tell dad, right?"
"Ash, you promised!"
"I don't knoooooow..." Ash licked his lips. He was looking the other way all the time. The kids' eyes got really teary.
"I'm joking. I'm not telling anyone—but don't steal! It's bad. You hurt people when you steal their things. It's bad."
"Okay."
"We won't do it again."
"Yeah."
"No, go play somewhere else!" Ash pretended he was going to throw the purse at them so they started running away.
He laughed and turned to his left, where the woman stood, looking in front of her. "Bunch of brats." He handed her the purse. "Here. I think this belongs to-"
She turned around and looked at him.
Ash's eyes shot wide.
She stared back.
"Oh..."
Her eyes were a bright green, or blue, or both. Ash has never seen such an eye color in his life before. She had spots—freckles. Freckles? He's never seen freckles. Is that what they looked like? Her hair was orange. It looked too natural to be dyed, but Ash has never seen orange hair in his whole life. Almost everyone in Pallet had black or brown hair and brown eyes. Having 'colored' eyes was a very rare gene.
It's like an angel has just showed up in front of him.
His chest tightened.
Where did this woman come from?
"Uh..."
"I-I think this belongs to you, yeah." He handed her the purse again, looking away and scratching his neck.
Usually, he didn't stare at women much. He didn't like that. He thought that was really impolite. But...
"Thank you," she told him with a smile. He hoped she didn't catch him stare way too much at her...
... because he has never seen a woman as beautiful as her in his town before.
"I would never thank you enough. They were really running fast!" She giggled and swung her purse over her shoulder. "My name is Misty. I'm an art student in Cerulean University. And you?"
Ash blinked. He couldn't believe how skinny she was. Her waist was so thin and her chest was big. He couldn't remember the last time he's seen someone as skinny as her in this town.
"I'm... Ash."
And she was so... pale. He was positive she wasn't from here. You can't be from Pallet and be as pale at the same time. Everyone in Pallet worked in lands under the sun all day long. This girl was nothing like the average Palletian woman.
But Ash found her stunning.
"Nice to meet you, Ash, and thanks for helping me."
"It's fine. Don't worry about the kids though. They probably were planning on giving it back to you."
"I know, but I have my brushes and paint in here so, yeah..." Misty shrugged. "Thank you, again."
"You're welcome."
Misty bowed her head and started walking away.
"Will I see you around?" Ash managed to say. Misty turned toward him. He blushed a little, staring deeply into her eyes.
"Of course." She beamed and turned on her heel, going her own way.
Ash blinked, smiling like an idiot to himself.
"Wow, her eyes are really blue green!"
