Juvia added the finishing touches to her latest masterpiece, as Mr. Dreyar continued his rant on demons in his course, the Influence of Fairytales on Literature. Her newest piece rendered her crush, Gray Fullbuster, in a dramatic black and white pose. Her most prized possession, her sketch book featured page after page of glorious Grays. Her muse provided her with plenty of material, as he sat in front of Juvia in class, to her viewing pleasure.
Not that Gray knew he was the subjects of hours of study, as Juvia desperately tried to capture the magnificence of his jawline from every angle. In fact, if he knew he'd probably be mortified. Yet Juvia couldn't help but continue expressing her feelings through art.
Unfortunately, Gray wasn't actually in class today, so Juvia had to rely on memory. She sighed and tried to focus on what the teacher was saying. Gray was the reason she had joined this class, and while she'd come to enjoy it on her own, it wasn't the same without him.
The bell rang and still no Gray. "Alright class, I expect a full report on how classic fairytales have had a bigger influence on literature than demon mythology, and DON'T FORGET THE END..." Mr, Drayar's words were lost in the cacophony of students rushing to their next class.
Juvia collected her things, and held her binder and black sketch book to her chest. They notebook wasn't her usual style, but she'd purchased it when she realized Gray had a nearly identical one to match. Humming to herself, Juvia contemplated background ideas for her newest sketch absentmindedly when Gray suddenly ran into the room and bumped into her. Juvia fell to the ground with a thump, notebook and papers scattering every which way. Her ankle throbbed from how she twisted it when she'd hit the floor, but when she looked up, Gray was gazing at her worriedly.
"Sorry Juvia, I didn't see you there. Are you alright?" Gray held out a hand to help her up and Juvia took it, savoring the feel of his calloused palms.
"I think so," she replied, though when she stood her ankle flared with pain and she winced.
"What hurts?" he asked scanning her to find the injury.
"I think I twisted my ankle a bit. It's not a big deal." Juvia tried to smile reassuringly, but it turned into a grimace.
"Now it seems not only that you're missing class, but your also terrorizing other students Gray," Mr. Dreyar said, approaching the pair. "You'd better take Juvia to the infirmary immediately, and be a responsible man and pick up her things while you're at it.
"Yeah sorry," Gray responded, crouching to pick up their mixed up school supplies. He'd also dropped some material in the collision, and hastened to put everything back together. In the end the mess of papers didn't seem that much more organized, but if how he usually kept his binder was any indication, nothing was the worse for wear.
Juvia began to bend to help him, but Gray looked up at her sternly. "I've got it Juvia, it was my fault anyway. Just take care of yourself, your ankle is already swelling."
Before she could protest, Gray had collected everything and handed her back her binder and notebook. Now that the excitement was over, Juvia was flustered by their proximity and mustered a pathetic "thank you."
"No problem," Gray flashed a smirk. "Let's head to the infirmary. Can you walk at all?"
Juvia tried to put some weight on her ankle, but fire licked up her leg at the slightest pressure. "I think I could use some help," Juvia said, hoping Gray would offer an arm. Her ankle hurt like hell, but no way was she passing up an opportunity to get closer to Gray.
"That ankle looks pretty bad. Think you could carry her?" Mr. Dreyar asked.
"You read my mind," Gray said. He swept her up like it was nothing, but turned his face away before Juvia could see the faint blush in his cheeks.
