Chapter One

One second summer was here and the next thing you know its gone, just like that. Oh by the way the names Lunar Grimm and I'm just an ordinary 17 year old girl who has a normal family, normal life, who lives in a normal town. Or that's what I thought anyways. Right before my senior year was supposed to start my mother gets mysteriously killed while jogging at night. The police say it was a mountain lion attack, but you can tell they don't know for sure. Things like that just don't happen in the suburbs. Life after moms death just made dad go nuts so here we are me, my twin brother Nik, and my dad standing in front of our old house, looking at the light blue town house one more time before we hit the road to California. "Better get going guys, I still have to register you two for your senior year." My dad said to us as he turned around and got into his black ford truck. "Can't believe we are leaving." Nik says to me as we go to my grey two door expedition jeep. "You knew it was gonna happen sooner or later after mom died. Dad can't live with out her, and this place remind him to much." I reply as I start the car and follow dad and the moving truck. "Yea but I dont know why we have to move all the way to a place called Beacon Hills, California." Niks sighs as he looks out the passenger window.  "Nik I really don't wanna move either but we have to do it for dad. Alright?" I told him as I kept driving not taking my eyes off the road. "Fine" He huffs.

~Two hours later~

The sun started to set as we got one more hour closer to Beacon Hills. The song Sweater Weather by the Neighbourhood blared within my jeep. Its word fitting both me and Nik's mood.

"Nik please roll up your window its getting cold" I say to my brother as the song ends and the full moon hangs up above us. "Why Its not really bothering you." He replies with a huff as he looks out at the forest we are passing. "Because its cold in here" "Fine, god Lunar. Just because dads already at the house and we have atleast half an hour to get there doesn't mean you need to get mad at everything." Nik says as he turns to look at me with his crystal blue eyes and shaggy brown hair.  "Oh just shut it Nik. Im stressing and thats not exactally good while driving at night...... I am just worried alright. I wonder what waits for us in Beacon Hills and whats gonna happen to us." I explain to him telling the truth. I just wanted it to be ok, even if we didn't have mom with us. I closed my eyes for what seemed like only a second before I heard Nik shouting "Watch out LUNAR!!!!!" I open them to see glowing red eyes staring back at me before I lose control of the jeep and it spins out of control causing it to swerve off the road and down the ditch. I look over to Nik who looks back at me with the same scared face that I have now before everything goes black.
