After we had gone home from the “wedding”, everyone seemed much happier. It was nice. Blake and I decided that we wanted to go on an official date.
We were at the lake, beside our house. There was a beautiful, full moon and amazing stars in the night sky. It was perfect; it felt like a dream.
“So Angie, what do you want to do now that we’re free?” Blake smiled a half-smile that showed his really cute dimples.
“Angie? Is that like a new nickname?” I smiled. Blake probably wanted a nickname for me that only he would use.
“You’re right; I do want a nickname all to myself. I mean, I should have one now that we’re together…” Blake paused for a second. “We are together now, right?” Blake looked a tad worried. I didn’t know why; I told Blake that I’d be his girlfriend.
I laughed. “Of course we are. I love you and you love me. There’s no reason to be confused.”
“Oh right. It’s not like you led me on and backed out… right.” Blake rolled his eyes playfully and kissed me unexpectedly. He was so sweet.
“Things will probably be different now.” With the marriage, and the war, and with Blake, my world was really awesome.
“What do you mean by that?” Blake looked confused. I thought he would know what I was talking about, but apparently not.
“I’m saying that things will be different with Drakko and Maribella. They’re probably gonna want their own room, and Maribella’s probably gonna want a baby. Can Vampires have kids?” If Maribella could have kids, she’d have a houseful. Mari loved kids.
Blake nodded. “Yeah, they can have kids, but the offspring of a Vampire isn’t like a normal child. They’re like newborn Vamps; hungry. But they don’t have any self-control whatsoever.”
“Do you think they’ll adopt? I mean, with all the risks they might want to consider it.”
Blake laughed. “No way. Maribella wouldn’t; she wants one of her own. She wants a baby with her own DNA inside.”
It had been a week since the wedding. Drakko and Maribella were on their honeymoon and they seemed to be enjoying it. Maribella would send four to five pictures a day.
The phone rang. I looked at the caller ID, and it said Maribella’s name. I picked up, and Maribella talked so loudly and quickly I couldn’t make out a word she said.
“AngeliqueIthinkthatImaybepregnantisn’tthatamazingIdon’tknowDrakkosaysthere’sahugeriskbutI’vealwayswantedachildwhatshouldIdo?” I held the phone a little further from my ear so it wouldn’t be too loud.
I laughed. “Mari, talk more slowly. I can’t understand anything you’re saying.”
Maribella inhaled slowly. “I’m pregnant. Drakko and I are on a plane and we’re coming home immediately.”
