"Sir ?" he asked. "Do you want him to be post mortemed ?".
Pulkit ran his fingers through hair and said, "It doesn't matter.". His face implied intense throbbing.
The attendant covered the face of dead body and asked us to leave. The dead body of the same person who bid me goodbye with a smile on my porch but now lied there unaware of everything.
"He's dead", I mumbled. Then, I felt disgusted to even say that.
"Excuse me".
I held Pulkit's hand and said,"We are leaving."
I took a last glance of him and drew a tissue out of my bag and wiped my tears.
"I don't think you can stay here any longer", attendant said once again. "You have to leave, now."
Once again I wiped tears away. We didn't want to leave but we turned around and started dragging ourselves towards the door.
"Mam, if you still want it post mortemed, you will just have to do go through some formalities".
I should have left him in peace but I asked for the post mortem.
"Maybe in a day or two we'll get to know about the cause of his death. Or may be about his murderer", I told Pulkit.
"You will be informed when report arrives"
I shook my head.
I started wondering how the houses, the streets, and those memories will always be there to remind me of him. And his voice that will never leave my mind.
It was out of my control now. We left that room and started towards our way.
Deep inside my chest, my heart was still pounding. The closer we got to our destination, the closer i was to lose consciousness.
I still couldn't believe that Abhay Kumar killed himself.
I was still not ready to accept it. And I didn't know that end of his life will begin a new chapter in my life.
