Chapter 3

School was pretty good for the most part. My siblings and I always made sure we stayed clear of trouble. Whenever there was a fight going on on one side of the school we made sure we were on the other side, and with a teacher so that if anyone tried to make us part of it we had someone to stick up for us.

Only once did I ever get in a fight. It was a small fight. Thank goodness it was outside of school or else I would've gotten detention. It was on the basketball court. Some guys about a year older then me and about my height asked what I was doing there. I wanted to practice my shots because my brother said if I practice I will get to love the sport and maybe go pro one day. I never believed the pro part of what he said to me, but I did grow to love the sport.

Anyway like I was saying I went to the court to practice my shots and these kids came up to me and said " You don't belong here. This park is for 9 and up only you're to young". "Who made you the ruler the park?" I asked. He said "I made myself the ruler and whatever i say goes and YOU have to go!" "Well I am not going anywhere but to that hoop to practice my shots!" I replied. That set them off. One of the 3 boys came at me and I punched him right square in the jaw and he went down. The second one came and i knocked him right out. Now obviously for an 8 year old I was a pretty good fighter, but I had to be like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to defeat the last kid. He was 4 ft. 10 in. and 100 lbs. of heavy fury. He charged right at me like a bull and threw me to the ground. He pounded me left and right. Thank God as if on cue my brother showed up and peeled the kid off me. He apologized to the kids about what just happened and told them it was best to go home. So they left and my brother helped me up and brushed me off.

He asked me what happened and I told him everything. He laughed at the story and promised not to tell mom cause he knew I would never be able to go to the park by myself again. So we went home watched tv and never spoke of the incident again.
