“James.” She whispered to herself.
“What?” asked Rosie.
“Oh sorry, I know him.” And then she walked over to meet him. As she met him the doorway, her first words were “What the hell are you doing here? Oh and hi.” He laughed and said “I could ask you the same thing. Hi yourself.”
“I've been going on this weekend away every year since I was tiny.”
“You still are tiny.”
“Shut up.” She smiled. What in Merlins name was James, the guy she really liked, doing here?
“My parents were family friends of some people here and got invited. I didn't think there would be anyone I knew here.”
“Well I guess you got lucky didn't you?” They both grinned and Eleanor took him over to meet Rosie and others. As the night progressed, things got less awkward and they spent a wonderful night, laughing and joking with everyone at the youth hostel. James realised that his parents were right, it was fun and he was enjoying himself. It was much nicer having someone there that he knew other than his parents, even if he hadn't known Eleanor that well. They got to know each other ore throughout the night and by the time they went to bed, they'd become better friends.
The next day the weather was beautiful, although still quite cold, and so people decided to go shopping in the centre of Conway. Eleanor and James met up and decided to go shopping as a pair. They had a great time running round, finding things for each other, some as a joke, some genuinely nice. They were laughing and messing around when Eleanor spotted a stall with bags and jewellery on it. She decided to check it out and found a beautiful pair of earrings. She showed them to James and held them against her ears, smiling at him. “They look amazing. I think they'd really suit you.”
“You think?”
“Yeah, buy them.”
“Ok I will. Thanks James.” He grinned at her and after buying them, they wandered down the street. James was looking for a Scarf and after a while, Eleanor saw the perfect one for him. She picked it up, put it round his neck and said “It looks great with your eyes.” She blushed and ducked her head and James bought it. They didn't buy anything else, they just spent the rest of the morning messing around and laughing loudly.
