Afternoon came and Eleanor convinced James to walk up the hill behind the Youth Hostel. He was reluctant but she was stubborn and grabbed his wrist and started dragging him up towards it. He, surprised by the contact followed her without complaint and after a while she let go so that James could walk on his own. About three quarters of the way up James complained about how he was tired and he wanted to go back down.
“But we're not far off.”
“Yeah but we've been walking for ages.”
“It's not been that long. You need more exercise.”
“Haha I'm perfectly fit thank you.”
'Not gonna disagree with you there' thought Eleanor and she chuckled to herself. Luckily James didn't hear. “Come on the view will be worth it, I promise.” And with that Eleanor started up the hill again, walking in front of James. As he started hiking behind her he said cheekily “I'm enjoying the view right now to be honest.” Eleanor turned round to see what he was looking at.
“Well I don't blame you. I do have a fabulous ass.” James winked and they both finally made it to the top of the hill.
The view was wonderful, fields and hills stretched out for what seemed to be forever. James took a deep a breath of fresh air and said “Wow. Just wow. You were right Eleanor, it's simply beautiful.” He turned to her and saw the sunlight glinting off her rich dark brown hair, her chinks pink from the walk. He watched her as she stared at the landscape and thought to himself 'No. She's simply beautiful.' Suddenly to ruin the magical moment they were in and to bring them back to reality, Eleanor tripped. James caught her quickly, his hands on her waist, hers gripping his arms. She steadied herself but neither of them let go. They were staring at each other, looking deep into each others eyes. A bird called far away and both of them broke the eye contact to look for it. They realised they were still holding onto each other and hurriedly let go.
Eleanor remembered she had brought her camera and so they took some photos, some nice ones of the view and each other smiling in front of it, other jokey ones doing poses on the rocks nearby. After a while they sat on a rock and just started to chat about random things, enjoying the fresh air. A breeze came along and Eleanor shivered. “Are you cold?” asked James.
“A little bit.”
“Come here, I'll warm you up.” They shuffled closer together and he put his arm around her and she lay her head on his shoulder. They sat there in a comfortable silence and watched the clouds go by. The trip back down the hill was a lot faster than the trip up. They ran down the hill occasionally racing and jumping over fallen logs. By the time they had reached the bottom, they were both breathless. “This has been a good day.” Eleanor commented once she got her breath back.
“It has, but I'm hungry now. Shall we?” James replied and they both strolled back into the building.
