Chapter 1
Dear Diary,
Friends. Who are they? The people who come in when the whole world has gone out? Psh, not for me. I don't believe in friends. Well, not anymore. Life made me realize that everyone will just leave me eventually. I guess it's better to stay away from them before you get attached and get hurt in the process. Meeting new people leads to gaining more acquaintances, which eventually turns into new friendships. But then misunderstandings come in the way and the whole world knows your secrets.
Do you get what I mean now? Treat your family like your friends. Like the saying goes, "Blood runs thicker than water". They're the only people who will be there when the whole world turns their back against you. I finally learned my lesson; to value my family over temporary people.
Wow, I'm finally learning. No shit, Sherlock. Bye for today.
-> Kaitlyn.
"Mom, I'm going to the mall with Amber, okay? Thanks!" I yelled from my room. I didn't wait for her reply. I know she would just lecture me about how much of a bad influence my friends were. Oh, puh-lease.
I rummaged through my closet to find my perfect outfit of the day. I really didn't like wearing clothes that I already wore. I guess you can call me a member of the fashion police. When I first meet someone, I look at their clothes first. Weird, I know. What can I say? I love clothes! It gives me a sense of belonging to my peers.
"Aha!" I laid down my blue sleeveless romper as I smiled in satisfaction.
"Time for a shower!" I stepped in my shower, letting the hot water soothe my tired body.
I wrapped my towel around my body as I got out of my bathroom and walked back to my room.
I let out a deep sigh as I sat on the chair in front of my dresser. I applied a small tint of blush on my pale cheeks and a pink lipstain. I'm not really a fan of make-up. I feel fake whenever I use them.
Once I was dressed, I went downstairs to ask permission from my mom to go. "Mom, can I go now?" I looked at her with pleading eyes, hoping she would just allow me without going through her annoying lecture.
"No. You went out last weekend. I mean, every weekend. Don't you ever get tired?" She crossed her arms and stared at me with a disapproving look. I used to be a mommy's girl, but then, I decided to grow up. Whenever I tell Amber about how close I am with my mom, she would just say things about how immature I was.
"Whatever, I don't want to lose my social life!" I stomped my foot in a childish way.
"Just listen to mom, Kait. You'll thank her someday." I turned back to see Amanda. My older sister is in college now, but she still lives with us. Her college is not that far anyway. But she can be a pain in the butt.
Like today.
"Do whatever you want. Don't tell me I didn't warn you," Mom said sternly before she walked out of the room.

I glanced around the busy bookstore packed with books in shelves and piled on the floor. Ugh, some people just don't know how to return things properly. I like being in the bookstore, but what a shame, some teens use it as a meeting spot. I used to love going here to buy books to read, but ever since twilight became a best-selling book, a lot of books about vampires and shiz came out too. It seemed like every book was about it. Sure, you can read about it once or twice, but not over and over again. I just got tired of it. It's too mainstream.
I had been waiting for Amber here for 10 minutes already. I wasn't really the most patient person ever and waiting wasn't my forte. I pulled out my phone from my bag and dialled her number, my impatience got the best of me.
"Hey, Kaitlyn," she mumbled.
"Where are you? I've been waiting for 10 minutes already. I feel so alone!" I whined, I looked around to see people chatting with each other, or dating. Jeez, I must've looked like a loner. I sighed mentally.
"I'm here, I'm here! Can't you wait?" She ended the call without even waiting for my reply. Harsh.
I felt someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around to see a smiling Amber. I can tell that it was a fake one. She was as tall as me, but she was really thin, the anorexic kind of thin. She looked sick and frail whenver she wears our school uniform, plus her slouched posture didn't help, but I wouldn't tell her that though. She was currently wearing an ivory chiffon blouse and a really short shorts. Eh, that'll do.
"Do I look okay with this?" She asked, fixing her headband. I nodded. What? I can't tell her, "Hey, don't wear that. Your big ears are showing off. Hide it before it occupies the whole space." Girls, don't ask for other girls opinion regarding your appearance. They'd lie, trust me.
"Ready to have a blast?"
It was fun while it lasted, Amber. I never thought you could be a one cold-hearted bitch.
