Queen Without Kingdom

I'd assumed that I'd become a pariah and I was right. Everyone avoided me and while I could tell they really wanted to hang with me, I realised that they were scared they'd be pariahs too. There were people who benefited from my situation, Peyton for one and her boyfriend, yes, I said boyfriend, Archer. The jerk face was openly dating her, regardless of how felt. I wonder what I saw in him anyway.

So here I was, walking around in a scarf because I was ashamed and there they were, walking towards me. I try to avoid notice but that witch noticed me anyway.
"Well hello there Blondie." She says sarcastically. "Hiding behind a shawl?"
"Hi Brittany. I'm not hiding, and this is not a shawl, it's a Hermes scarf. Not that I expect you to know that with your Prada knock off." I say sweetly. "Where is your leash? We don't want you getting lost now, do we?"
"Oh Ella, I pity you. You used to be all that, now you're nothing. How does that feel?"

"Every bitch deserves their moment in the spotlight, enjoy it while it lasts girl." I say as a form of reply. I really couldn't start explaining to her how it hurt to loose everything, especially my best friend.

"Oh I'm loving every second. By the way Ella, don't bother planning your usual Halloween soiree, we're having the school's annual ball this year on Halloween. You should come as Cinderella, maybe then you'll have you minute in the spotlight." She laughs and I spin away from her, hurrying to the convenience where I did breathing exercises.

I still couldn't believe that Peyton could convince the school board to hold the ball on Halloween, especially since they all knew I usually hosted during Halloween. I'd even been to an events planner to discuss this year's party!

When I'm done, I look up to see my ex bff looking at me in pity. I ignore her and reapply lip gloss. I didn't want anything to do with someone who betrayed me. I lower my scarf to fluff my curls and two seniors come in. They admire my hair before doing their business and walking out.

I was still queen, but I had no kingdom. If I wanted a kingdom, I had to take one. I'm not good with all that cloak and dagger stuff so after school, I pay daddy dearest a visit. He's in a meeting so I flirt with Anton, his personal secretary.
"Jailbait, always a pleasure to have you around." Anton says. He's studying computer engineering and interning with my dad to make extra cash. I cannot imagine anything more boring.

"Anton, you look good. Are you wearing Ralph? Wow your dress sense is increasing."
"Thanks to you of course."
"Of course."
"So how's school."
"Okay."

Dad walks in then. "Hey pumpkin." He greets, giving me a peck on my forehead. I roll my eyes at this before launching into the reason I'd come.
"Daddy" I drawl. "You know Tiffany and I had a quarrel and she's not speaking to me. With Tiffany out of my life, I'm bored."
"Okay... What about your other friends?"

"What other friends?"
"Eh, Peyton and Matt, and Sally."
"Dad, I'm no longer in first grade. I outgrew them."
"What do you want pumpkin." I smile.
"I want a new car, and maybe Lois can take me shopping."

"Pumpkin you know you promised to spend the weekend with your mother at the Hilton. I already booked the suite."

Ah mummy dearest, the toughest bitch that ever lived. We never get along because she's always trying to run my life; sweetie why not wear something pink today, sweetie I got you this emerald bracelet wear it tonight, sweetie no one under forty wears a brooch, sweetie why not use a flat iron. I groaned.

"You know we don't get along." I say
"Which is why she suggested this meeting. You know she'll be going on tour soon."

Did I mention that she's a singer? My family is filled with celebrities, even my geeky father is one. He invented some fancy app the cops cherish a lot. Me, I would be a celebrity too, just not until I've lived my teenage life and made all the mistakes involved.

"The paparazzi will find us. You know I hate those vultures."
"Yes, I know. When you get back, we'll go pick out a car." He says to appease me and I smile, blinking innocently at him.

He smiles before looking to his computer, brows furrowed. Picking up the intercom, he dials Anton. I had been dismissed. I go round the table to hug him before prancing out the door. Anton smirks at me as I pass, knowing I'd come to get something from my dad and had won, as usual.
