Ch. 19: The Other Child

I got changed into comfortable but casual.

Aro called me down to them. And I'm not going to lie, I'm scared. I don't know what I did or if I did anything or if the twins did something. I knock and the doors open. I walk in front of Marcus, Aro, and Caius.
"Avery, we have been informed that the Cullen's have made a immortal child."
I gasp because Alec told me about the immortal child's.
"But they know the rules especially Carlisle."
"Yes, but I've heard Irina's thoughts."
"Forgive me Aro, but how close was she to the child? Keep an opened mind to the possibilities. I mean I have half immortal half mortal children, isn't it a possibility the child is the same?"
"Yes....we must go see and find out."
(The twins were secretly listening to their mother and Aro's conversation.)
I leave the throne room and head to the twins room. It's 7:00 pm their bed time. I walk in and see them sitting on Bri's bed with worried looks.

I was in pjs just because I had nothing to do.

"Mia, Bri what's wrong?"
"We heard you talking with Aro. Is daddy going to die?" Mia asked.
"I'm not going to lie to you two. I don't know if daddy is going to die or not. But there is a chance the kid is like y'all."
"But Aro doesn't know what we'll be like in the future. He just likes that we're with him." Bri said.
"Yes, but even if there is a fight daddy will do everything to live, I'm sure."
"But if Aunt Jane is in danger daddy will give his life for her just like I'll give my life for Mia." Bri said.
"Kids you're making me more scared then I am! Just get in bed so Alec and I can kiss you goodnight." I say.
"Sorry we scared you." The say at the same time.
"Don't be." I say.
Alec comes in the room obviously heard the whole conversation. I kiss Mia and Bri's heads and say 'Goodnight, love you' and hear two little 'I love you too'. I leave and go to my book room.

***Alec's POV***
After Avery left I knew she was going to her book room so I wait fifteen seconds then look at the twins.
"You heard everything, didn't you? Mia asked.
"Yes, and Bri your right I will give my life for Jane. But I'm going to try and live for you two and your mother. You two don't have two worry about a thing. Go to sleep and have sweet dreams. Goodnight I love you Mia," I say kissing her head, "I love you Bri." I say kissing his head.
"Love you too." They say at the same time. I smile and turn the lamp off and go to Avery. I see her reading "Don't Try This At Home" by Kian Lawley and Jc Caylen. It always makes her laugh. But I have a feeling she isn't reading, she's just staring at the book lost in her thoughts. I walk to her and grab the book, she snaps back to earth and says,
"I was reading that."
"No, you weren't. You were lost in your thoughts like always." I say matter of factly.
"So, what do you want?"
"To make sure my wife isn't scared."
"Well, she's not. I'm terrified. Even if the child is half immortal and half human Aro will still try to fight because he doesn't want to be wrong." She says, I know she isn't wrong and that makes it so much harder to calm her down.
"I'll be fine, Avery. We'll all be fine." I say, I'll say anything to calm her down. Even though I don't believe any of that.
"Alec, stop that."
"Stop what?"
"Stop saying anything to calm me down. You always do that and now is not the time. Because I will not be lied to, I know you don't even believe it. I can tell when anyone is lying."
"Just trust me to be fine. Avery Primrose Evelyn Bridget Hale Volturi, I love you. I won't leave you."
She pecks my lips and grabs the book and starts reading. I laugh and sit beside her.
