Zac mouthed to me "text me later." Left and went paddle boarding. Just before India came he wrote on my hand in sharpie his number, so we could meet up sometime and he wanted to know about me.
Noah arrived on time at five and told India I wanted to tell them at the same time. So as Noah stroll on to the beach and pulled a kayak out India said impatiently, "we're both here so what is it?" I didn't answer the question I just got into my kayak and started paddling, Noah followed and wasn't bothered about what I had to say at the start he just liked being on the water, whereas India was grabbing my kayak and pulling me beside her.Once we got far enough out I stopped and began to tell them. "Guys you know I haven't been available very much this past year, well my mum started to get ill, really ill..." And second by second they started to go quiet and comfort me. I was happy they knew but I took a long time to say the words. They were very understanding as I knew they would be.
Once I finished Noah slid out of his kayak splashed into the water, swam over to me fully clothed sat on the front of my kayak and gave me a huge hug, which made me soaking but I didn't mind. India grabbed my kayak and leaped onto the back of it, getting a little less wet than Noah and joined the hug. As soon as they got off my green kayak, Noah and India looked at each other and Noah finally spoke, "how have you dealt with it on your own." Again I tried to lighten the mood.
"Well I had Simon so I wasn't completely alone." I didn't tell them about my late night paddle boarding; because something's you just keep to yourself. They both looked at me like I was crazy but I just smiled at them. "I've had a lot of grieving time and I'm never going to forget mum so I'll be okay she'll always be in my heart. Know her she'll be spying on me somehow." I know it sounds silly now and it then but I still believe she is. Noah and India were so close together but they didn't want to kiss in front of me. "Guys you can if you want I really don't mind, it's a romantic scene anyway." I mean they were on the sea looking on the sunset who can deny them a nice kiss in front of it. And as they did so I snapped a quick photo, it was so cute.I felt like I was third wheeling badly so I started to distance myself from them, and then could hear someone was paddling near behind me. I turned my kayak around only to knock someone off their paddle board, they must have been beside me and as I turned the end of my kayak turned their board. A person came coughing spluttering up, it looked like Zac from behind, "I'm so sorry Zac I didn't know who was-" the boy turned around. It wasn't Zac they looked at me like I was a stupid.
"Stupid little girl" the man said under his breath loud enough so I could hear. I felt bad but he didn't seem very nice.
"Sorry again,” I yelled after him. Noah and India didn't notice they were in their own little world. It wasn't completely silent anymore I could hear someone sniggering. From behind the rocks Zac appeared on his knees. God I was such an idiot.
But he stopped laughing when he looked at the other guy. "Hang on you thought that old dude looked like me. I'm a little insulted." I looked back at the drenched man Zac was right he looked nothing like him. Why would I think it was Zac immediately?
"Are you stalking me or something? You just seem to pop up near me." I looked at him with a small smirk.
"No" he laughed, "I was just in my cove listening to music and heard my name so I came out to see your red face and a very wet man cussing under his breath." It kind of back fired on me. But then he said, "but I heard you talking to your friends," his voice dropped. "It sounded serious. But I didn't listen into it." My smile turned quickly into a worried grin. It was nice that he didn't listen into my convocation though, I know if it was me I would of sadly. "But I did hear you say 'I really don't mind, it's a romantic scene anyway' what was happening there?" I was puzzled at first but then I realised it was when I told Noah and India to be romantic. I started to giggle just imagining what he thought it meant.
"Oh no, my friends are dating and normally they don't want to kiss in front of me cause I've never been in a -." I stopped just before I tell him why, and then thought to myself he doesn't need to know. "Anyway that's why I decided to leave them to it and that's when I crashed into that man." He looked at me funny after I explained the situation. I thought my hair was messy, but I have hair like my mums and hers never got messy in water so mine wouldn't. "Is something wrong?" I asked a little uncomfortable.
"Yeah," my heart began to race, normally when someone asks that question they expect a 'no' answer. "You’re on the wrong side of the water." Looking back I don't why after he said this I didn't see what came next. He held onto the front of my kayak and in one swift movement he tipped my kayak and I was face down in the water. I slipped out and swam to the surface. I looked over to Zac; he was on his back laughing so hard.
"Hey, what was that for?" I yelled and it bounced off the walls of the cove.
"For thinking I looked like an old wrinkly man with grey hairs." I guess it was fair and I actually thought he was the complete opposite to the description but I wasn't going to tell him. I tried to empty my kayak but I was drained from the day I had no energy left. Obviously I couldn't touch the bottom, so I looked like a boy just bobbing about. "Here." Zac said offering me to sit on his board as he slipped back. I clambered on.
"Thanks." As I climbed on, he unnoticeably slid off the end of the board. It made me flip the board over. He was just making me look stupid and I was letting him. He pushed the board aside and grabbed my wait and pulled me up so I could breathe. I pushed him away; I was getting annoyed with him by then. "Why? Why would you do that?" Maybe my quick judging was correct.
"Sorry that one wasn't intentional, I was going to flip your kayak because I can touch the ground. I didn't mean to hurt you I really was just trying to help." I was a bit hash. His hand was on my kayak and I didn't even realise. It had been an eventful day so I was tired and little all over the place.
"Oh...Right sorry, quick to judge. It's been a long day." I smiled at me with a forgiving look and came and sat beside me on his board.
"That's okay... Tell me about yourself I have already so it's only fair."
