Chapter 1

I have been friends with Carson McDaly since the first grade. He has stuck with me throughout everything. Although he's popular, the star quarterback on the football team, he stands by me. Even when I get bullied by the other kids. You see, I've always been the 'nerd' of the school. You know, the glasses and always has the highest grades. And I get that they bully me, I mean I'm not exactly the prettiest. I'm the average long brown hair, and dull blue eyes that get covered by my huge glasses. But hey, what was I going to do?

My parents died when I was only two, so now I'm stuck with my Uncle Ben. And let me tell you, he is not the nicest man. He's a drunk. I have to make sure the house is clean, his dinner is ready, or else it results in a beating. And those aren't the best. Carson doesn't know about any of this, I just don't know how to bring that up in a conversation, I mean what do you say, "Oh hey Carson, how are you? Oh that's great, by the way my uncle beats me." Yeah, not happening.

But that's all about to get a little better today. I'm finally going to tell Carson how I feel about him. That I'm in love with him.

So here I am, dressed in my cutest outfit that I have, my Led Zeppelin t-shirt, leather jacket, skinny jeans, and my converses, waiting for him to pick me up for school. And there goes a car horn. Guess that means he's here. Oh boy, this is going to be hard.

Grabbing my backpack and keys, I walk out and lock the door behind me. As I walk up, I notice Lacey Benarld, my arch nemesis, in the front seat of Carson's car. Oh this can't be good. As I get into the car I say a short greeting to the both of them.

Carson looks back at me, with those beautiful green eyes, oh I could get lost in those eyes.

"Hey Avery, you know Lacey, my girlfriend?" He said, saying the last part quietly.

"I'm sorry, did you just say girlfriend? When did this happen?" I practically yell.

"Uhh, last night." He whispers in a hushed tone.

This can't be happening. He can't. He knows how I feel about her. I can't believe this.

"You know what, I think I'm going to walk to school today."

And with that I got out of the car and began the long trek to school. Well, there goes my perfect day.
