Now I'm laying flat on my stomach, trying to fall asleep again. I woke up a few minutes ago, because of a strange and unsettling sound. But now that I'm awake, I'm sure it was only in my dream. Because the night is calm. No sound can be heard.
The house where we're living is far away from the main road.
I don't know if I should get up and get myself something to drink. Am I really thirsty ?
As I lay there, in the quietness of the night, I think about tomorrow. I don't want tomorrow to come. I'll have to speak in front of the whole class about some random subject...
Suddenly, a noise echoes through the night. It sounds like a soft yet heavy objet fell to the ground. I listen more closely. Obviously my parents are going to stand up and go look what happened.
I hear a rattling sound, but as soon as I think I head it, it stops. Uneasy is starting to settle in. How comes my parents don't stand up ?
And the I hear it. The sound of silence. I can't even hear the night creatures outside, and it's autumn. There should be at least a howl of a owl, or the quiet rustle of a mouse on the dead leafs. But nothing.
Father always told me that if I ever I was out in the woods, and nature went still, danger was near.
Mother always told the forest behind our house was a dangerous place. Because of bobcats. Because of wolves.
But none of them warned me about something like that. I know I'm not alone in my bedroom anymore, because I can hear it breath. It moves cautiously, but it breaths, and with every inhale I take, I can smell the stinking smell of fresh blood mixed up with a other sent, something more deadly.
I close my eyes. The room is too dark to see anything anyway, and the fear that has taken control of me doesn't allow me to move.
The wood beside my bed creaks, and I can't stop myself from opening my eyes. The last thing I see, is a pair of unsettling shining blue eyes, and rows of blood dripping teeth. That's when I start to scream.
