remember when we were oh so young?

when we'd sit outside all day?

running around, playing games, having fun?

remember when we'd eat lunch, at the corner of the road?

we'd giggle and smile, cry and fly, dream of what we were to become...?

remember when we'd get home from school and race down the street?

"I won, I won!" we were so innocent then.

remember on my tenth birthday, when I found out I was leaving?

i didn't get to say goodbye, even though i tried.

remember when you came up the stairs, with your little brother?

christmas card in hand, you rung the doorbell and my daddy answered. he told you we were busy, that we couldn't play...

remember after two springs, we finally saw each other?

just like old times, we laughed and cried, both of us tending to the youngsters.

remember the water balloon fight, where we chased each other until four?

eighty degrees in the middle of May...

remember how on your birthday, I texted you at midnight?

i stayed up to tell you how much you mean to me, clearly you don't see it...

remember when we met up with our other neighbors, the ones i hadn't seen in forever?

we talked about a lot of randomness, all our silly little puppy crushes.

no one noticed me smiling, staring at your smile.

guess they were preoccupied, cause they hadn't seen me in a while...

remember when I was walking down the street and you asked me why I was in the freezing cold?

i remember being there, running around the neighborhood, looking for your dog.

i remember you helping me when he wouldn't leave me alone.

i remember you and i hugging awkwardly for the first time.

i remember all the stories you told me of your girlfriends, i remember all our conversations when you went camping for three weeks.

i remember that you work for five hours on weekends, leavin me alone.

i remember realizing, i'm just a hopeless romantic young girl, one stuck in a daydream.

but a girl can always wish...

a girl can always dream...

and i will always be there...
