Aphmau Phoenix is a slave working on the famous Firefist plantation in O'Khasis.

Every morning she wakes up, gets dressed, meets Katelyn, the gorgeous daughter of the owner who she's befriended over time, says good day, walks down to the kitchen, makes food all day and serves for the family, walks back to her small hut of a house, cooks the scraps she steals and Katelyn bargains for her, serves them to her tired mother and herself, and goes to sleep. Wash, rinse, and repeat.

Garroth Ro'meave is the eldest son of Garte and Zianna Ro'meave, the wealthy owners of the Jury Nine plantations.

Every morning he wakes up, gets dressed, has breakfast, meets with his father on the business, reads and writes in his study, has lunch, gets drilled on how to run a business with his father, goes outside for a bit, has dinner, reads some more, and then goes to bed. Wash, rinse, repeat.

But as the day of Garte's retirement gets closer and closer, Garroth's normal schedule slowly changes: less freedom, more lessons and learning. Before he knows it, Garroth is out looking at the Jury Nine plantations, coming from one, going to another.

Before he knows it, Garroth hates his new 'wash, rinse, repeat.'

But when he reaches the Firefist plantation, things suddenly change. Suddenly, he finds someone that makes him step way over the boundary of who he's supposed to be. He finds himself wanting a change, just not knowing how to make it happen.

And not only does Garroth find himself dangerously away from who he's meant to be, but Aphmau does too.  She finds herself enthralled in a life she was never meant to live, never meant to know about. She wants a change too, she just doesn't know how to make it happen.

Love. It's strange how it has an urge to cause change, isn't it?
