Selena's POV
Harsh, bitter-cold, winter rain belted against the windows and the roof of the car. Michael sat in the drivers seat, his hands gripped firmly on the wheel, with Mary at his side. Dylan sat in the backseat beside me. He was staring out the window and across the ferocious sea.
I was trying to look brave but failed as my hands collided with my head and tears streamed from my eyes. I covered my face with one arm and placed the other on my lap.
"This can't be happening," I whispered, "why, why him, why now?" My voice shook as I spoke. I flinched as something touched my hand.
I sniffled, wiped the tears from my eyes and looked to my hand. Dylan's hand rested delicately on mine. As our palms touched, Dylan entwined his fingers with mine.
All of a sudden I felt safer and calmer. I tugged my mouth into a sad smile and Dylan returned the smile.

Mike stepped on the brakes as the car rolled down the hill, coming to a stop at an orange cone. Police swarmed the scene. The road was cut off by neon, orange tape labeled 'Do not cross: Police Zone'.
A man dressed in a navy blue suit and decorated with many assorted badges approached us. "I'm sorry sir," he directed at Mike, "this is a police only zone. You will have to take the long way around."
"I am the victims very close friend and this is his wife and daughter," Mike explained.
"I'm sorry for your loss, but I am afraid you can not cross this line," the officer responded.
"I don't care about your frikkin' safety rules," Dylan argued, "They just lost their husband and father." Dylan pointed to my mother and I.
"I-I can't do that sir-" he was cut off by Dylan.
"Let us through now."
I couldn't help but feel a little scared. I tryed to speak but choked on my words. My hands trembled while tears slid down my cheeks. A single sound rung in my ears, everything else was muffled. A high pitched scream pierced my ears.
It'll be ok
My emotions stained my cheeks. "Your imagining this," I told myself silently, "your dreaming. Just wake up." But in reality, I knew I wasn't dreaming.

A highly decorated officer escorted us down a steep path leading down to the rocky beach.
We arrived at the shore and saw a stretcher lying on the stones. Doctors and Police sat and stood in a circle around the victim. My first reaction was to sprint up to them.
Tears rolled down my cheeks, increasing as I saw the bloody mess lying before me.
I pushed the doctors and nurses away, giving me room to look at my father.
His skin was snow white. His chest no longer rose and fell, but stood frozen in time. Sharp, broken bones pierced through his dry flesh. Blood was everywhere, his face especially.
I placed a hand on his stone-hard chest. My head hung down over the body.
Out of fear and sadness I struggled to say four simple words.
"I love you dad."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After what felt like years, I was still in the same spot. Grieving over my dad. Everyone had left to give me some time with my soulless father, even my mother.
I trembled and cried, looking to heaven above. I prayed, asking God to take care of my dad.
All of a sudden a warm hand sat on my shoulder. I turned around, opening my mouth to tell them I needed a few more minutes. I instantly shut my mouth when I saw who it was. Dylan. He stared into my eyes, I looked away but at that moment he placed his hand on my face and turned my head back to look at him.
I stood up, needing someone to comfort me. I could feel the strength in his arms as he wrapped them around me, to trap me in his neverending warmth. As he held me, I could feel the life in him, the blood pumping in his veins, and his warm breath on my neck.
"Don't worry," he whispered in my ear, "I've got you."
