Serena POV.
I cried until I fell asleep.
I really did. I wept until I lost consciousness. The scars on my hand burning from getting dirty. The blisters on my toes rubbing against the leather shoes. The moon and the stars rejected by the thick curtains.
"Do you know what happened?" I heard her say. Just outside my room were my worried parents. Sure, I could hear them, but I wasn't listening. I was drowning in my sorrow.
"She's scared. And hurt. Inside and outside," my fathers voice replied. I peeked from my un-bruised eye. Shadows outside the door.
"How did this happen, Norman? How can she live, knowing there are people like that out there?" she fret. "We've never gone through something like that before. She hasn't before."
"She'll find a way," he replied, sounding very uncertain. "After all, she's strong."
I buried myself under the covers. His uncertain voice ringing in my ears.
It happened 5 years ago...

Andrew POV.
"Take that, you!" I shouted, laughing at their idiotic faces.
2 years ago, I was the laughing stalk. An embarrassment.
But just look at me now! Star of the season, most popular boy in school! Just goes to sow, those who have been through lots, always win in the end.
Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr not.
Serena sat by herself near the wall, watching. Watching every ball I hit, every goal I made. Sitting there and watching. Watching. Watching.
She's been trough lots of things too.
"Don't just sit there!' my grandmother used to say. "Go out there and show them stuff! A hero is only born after overcoming challenges!" It was frustrating. She just watched, hiding in the corner. Wen I got her out of that shell of hers, she'd shrink back in. I was her only friend. In that little shell of her.
Only I exist.
