Chapter 4~ The prophecy ❅

"Pitch Black is the boogeyman, a Long time ago he tried to take over the world with his nightmares, But the children joined together to save everything." Jack explains and the very thought of it makes you cringe. "Hey mate, wasn't your hair orange when you walked in?" Bunnymund asks, tilting his head in question. You shrug your shoulders "Must be the winter season, It usually changes to white-blonde." You reason. "Enough about Decembers hair! Shouldn't we figure out what to do?" Tooth suggests, her wings fluttering swiftly. "Well it won't be easy, but we got to send a few of us to go investigate what pitch is up to." North commands. Everyone takes turns arguing over who's going and who's the best for the job. "I think we all know I'm the most qualified." Jack gloats. "Someone's a little arrogant." Bunnymund mumbles, twirling his boomerangs. "Not arrogant, he's confident." You defend. Jack Raises his eyebrows and smirks. "Here that kangaroo?"
The group agrees that Jack's past experience with Pitch will help and that he should go. "And I'm going to take December with me." He finalizes and your breath catches in your throat. "Me? But I'm not even a guardian!" You blurt. "Actually Man in moon did mention something about a new guardian..." North admits."A prophecy really, that has been around for a while." North picks up a dusty book off a shelf nearby and flips it open to a page. He hands it to you and you read the paragraph out loud.
'When darkness needs light,
a guardian must take flight,
To combine with frost to regain the lost.
Her beauty holds its own against a rose,
And a symbol of power is right under her nose.
And what was once so clear,
has been taken by fear
It must be found at last,
to uncover the past.'
The room is dead silent as you recite the last line. "You think this is about me?" You ask, dumbfounded. Jack takes the book and studies the words. "To combine with frost to regain the lost..." You hear him mumble to himself. Sandy creates pictures above his head out of his golden sand as he tries to explain but North translates. "We use to think it was Tooth, until you got here. We could never figure out the 5th line." You can not believe what your hearing but you decide to go alone with it. "How about I go help Jack with Pitch then we can deal with this?" You volunteer. Jack puts the book back on the shelf and nods his head. You and Jack head out the massive doors escorted by yetis. "Be careful mate, you have no idea what Pitch is capable of." Bunnymund calls after you.
You and Jack fly in silence and a million things run through your head. The view below you is breathtaking. The bright lights of building and car headlights light up the dim sky. Jack is surprisingly quite, he usually speaks exactly whats on his mind. "I can't believe we only met this morning." You exclaim and break the uncomfortable silence. "Yeah I know, I didn't think it was impossible to be so annoying in that amount of time." Jack teases with a laugh. "Me? Get on your nerves? Look who's talking!" You counter sticking out your tongue playfully. The wind begins to pick up and your blown closer to Jack. "You do know you and I are the only ones who can control the wind right? And that wasn't me who made the wind do that!" You accuse and Jack laughs. The sky around you begins to darken and storm clouds erupt lighting and thunder. A dark fog is settled over the city and you feel your heart beat faster. "No matter what you do, just don't be afraid." Jack warns his eyes filled with sternness.
