"Just before the death of flowers,
And before they are buried in snow,
There comes a festival season
When nature is all aglow." ~Unknown
You swiftly wave your hand and send a gust of brisk autumn wind toward a forest of colorful leaved trees, causing the leaves to fall to the ground in a tornado of oranges and reds. The air around you is windy and cool just like you always instruct it to be in late November. Winter is approaching quickly and you still have to get so many plants and animals ready for the freezing weather. You have been out ever since Halloween blowing the leaves off trees, ripening farmer's crops, cringing at the sight of people cutting down trees for firewood, and watching all the children in their coats and scarves playing in the crunchy fallen leaves which always brought a smile to your face. A flock of migrating birds flies over head and a couple of the geese land on your shoulder to update you on the climate in the far north and east. "The snow is traveling here must faster than I thought." You mumble under your breath and turn the patch of green grass to a dead shade of brown.
Autumn had always been one of your favorite seasons. Mostly because it changed your usually (h/c) hair to a warm amber, your cheeks glow with a healthy red hue, and your dress is decorated with crisp fall colors and foliage just as it always did when seasons changed. Your sparkling snowflake necklace seems out of place among all the browns and yellows. You have never really known where the necklace came from or why you where it, but you have had it ever since you can remember. It's the last glimpse into your past. polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=102923230
The end of fall festival that the town held every year was your favorite part of finishing your last preparations in this area. You always make sure to attend and keep the weather in check, any sudden changes in your emotions could easily cause it to rain out the whole place.
You sit on the bare branch of a tall tree that's overlooking the town square where the festival is being held. Men, woman, and children bustle and talk below you while decorations are being put up in fall colors. Tables of fruits and vegetables of all the fall harvest provided by, you of course, is set up along the sides. You move the clouds away from the sun with a flick of your hand to allow the sun's rays to reach the ground below. Music is played from large speakers outside the town hall and everyone in the square dances and sings along. You decide to join the fun even though you know most of the people won't see you. Mother Nature is often dismissed as myth and folklore among most adults but the children are always excited to see you.
You fly down and land gracefully in the center of the crowd. You smooth your dress and fix your hair as a crowd of kids run toward you with their faces glowing. "Mother Nature! " Some of them shriek while others walk warily toward you. "Hello, this festival is beautiful as always!" You greet and pat the head of a little blond girl. Many of the girls look your dress up and down and ask questions like "Where can I get a dress like yours?" While the boys chase the birds flying around you. When a good song begins to play many of them grab your hands and insist you dance with them. You extend a hand toward them and a flower appears in your palm, they all giggle with amusement. Some children even try and show their parents but it's obvious they can't see you.
As the sun begins to go down so does the temperature. It's unusually cold and you can see your breath in the slowly fading sunlight. You look up into the sky as it starts sprinkling snowflakes everywhere. And frost slowly coats the grass under your feet. Everyone looks at you for an explanation but you can only shrug. "This wasn't be, I can't do this." You explain. You feel a cold snowball splat on the back of your neck and you whip around to investigate. There stands a tall figure dressed in a blue frosty hoodie, brown pants that end at the ankles and leaning on a crystal blue staff with a smug look on his face. "I thought I would bring a little snow to this party." He says with a mischievous smile.
