I sat on the side if the road, crying my eyes out. Why would he do this to me? I thought he loved me.
I watched as a few cars rode pass me, speeding to their destination. Here I am, stuck on the side of the road with no cellphone, possible concision, and no clue of my whereabouts. The temperature has dropped and it's very cold.
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Why did I get involved with a 21 year old?
There's no need in sitting here. I got up and starting walking from the we came. Hopefully, I can find my way back. Even though my head feels like a ton of bricks were thrown at it.
As I kept walking, I seen a food market. I walked into the market and seen a old man. "Sir, may I please use your phone?" I asked as clear as I could. "My God! Sure, child! Are you okay?" He asked, running over to pull out a nearby chair. I sat down. "Yes, I just need to call my friend to pick me up."
He handed me his cellphone; I quickly dialed Chris's number. I hope she picks up.
The phone rung about 5 times, I was ready to hang up when I heard her voice. "Hello?" She spoke. "Chris, it's me, Kiera. I'm at the store up from the party. Please, come get me!" I pleaded as tears ran down my eyes. "Okay, okay! I'm on the way!" She replied with shock. I hung up.
"Excuse me, did you say you we're at the party down the street?" The old questioned. "Yes, why?" "My child, that's a danger zone. Every year, people pile up, 30 years and younger, partying and drinking. It always end with multiple deaths. Fifty to one hundred people die every year. I sit in this store and listen to the multiple gunshots and the screams of the teenagers and young adults, pleading for their life. I watch so many of them run up and down the street, looking for help. Sadly, I can't let them in. If I do, I'll be putting my life in danger. Luckily, you got away in time and you were by yourself." He told me with a look of sorrow.
I cried my eyes out. I could t stop thanking God for my life. "How come the police doesn't do anything about this? I haven't seen anything about this on the news or anything." "The police force are stubborn and selfish. They refuse to let this matter be known to the public because they don't want to seem as if they can't do their job. Oh, my dear child, you don't know how many times I've called the police, years before, and they would leave without spilling a single word. Then, they had the nerve to label me as crazy to the public eye. Whoever is behind this has to be pretty skilled."
I watched as Chris pulled up. Thank God, she's okay. "Thank you, sir. You've been a big help." I told him. "Oh that's quite alright. Promise me something, though? He asked. "Anything!" I told him. "Leave this place and never return. It's too dangerous down here for anyone!" "I promise, but why won't you leave?" I asked him. "Darling, I was born and raised here, I'll certainly die and rest in my grave here." He replied with a small smile.
I smiled at him. "See you later." I told him. "Goodbye, my child."
As I walked out, the lights instantly turned off. I turned around and seen nothing, but a pitch black store. I ran to the car, scared to death, and got in.
As we were going up the road, I told Chris the story behind the party. As we kept on up the road, I seen the old man standing on the side of the road, where Messiah crashed us and kicked me out, waving at me with a smile on his face. I smiled and waved back. I turned around and saw that he was ....... gone?
What? How?
"Who are you waving at?" Chris asked, looking in her rear view mirror. "The old man who told me the story!" "Kiera, I didn't see anyone, and there's nothing on this road but the cars ahead. Matter of fact, I didn't see anyone when you came out the store. It was completely dark." She told me.
"WHAT? Chris, I swear there was an old man at that store who let me use his phone. The store was lit up and everything!" I cried to her. I am so freaked out! "Calm down, okay? What happened?"
I told her what went down with Messiah and I.
"Oh my God! Are you okay?" "Yes, just a small headache now. But, I went the store for help and there was an old man there. He let me use his phone, then he asked was we at the party down the street. I told him yes, and he told me the story." I told her.
"Now that I think about it, I did hear gunshots when I was leaving. I didn't pay any attention, though!" She said.
I grabbed her phone to check the time. It's 3:00am.
We drove to Chris's house, because I was too scared to stay at my house. The hard thing to do now is tell my mother. I know she's is going to be very disappointed in me.
I laid on Chris's bed, dozing off to sleep, hoping that when I wake up, this would all be a silly nightmare.
