Hello frens!
So, I have a lot to say but I don't want to bore you guys so I'll try and keep it short and sweet.
First off, I'd like to say, thank you so much. Without all the support you guys give me, I wouldn't be here writing. I know I say that a lot, but it's true. I love to see that you guys commented on my story even if it's literally a one word comment. All your comments mean so much to me and I'm so grateful that you guys have given me the privilege to write for you. So, for the millionth time, thank you all so much.
Anyway, moving on;
This story brought me so much pleasure to write. I loved every chapter, every sentence, every word. It was by far the best work I've ever done and I'm so insanely proud of it. (Okay now I'm overindulging myself. Time to back up fren.)
Next, I feel like I have to play the mother figure for a moment. If you are struggling with depression, or anxiety, or an eating disorder, or schizophrenia, or anything that is bringing on negative thoughts, please please please tell someone. If you need someone to talk to, I am always here. I will almost always respond (I have absolutely no life). Mental illnesses are not something to be taken lightly and they are very serious. So please, stay safe frens. (Okay I'm done preaching.)
Alright! Onto the fun stuff!
So, I've been thinking about doing another sequel to this and I've finally come up with my decision.
Josh Dun... Drum roll please.
*silence*
... Anyway, I'm doing a sequel!
So, I will give you a little insight on the sequel. Instead of following only Gavin around and having just his POV, I will be introducing a new POV and main character. This new main character is going to be Oliver (aka, Gavin and Michael's second son). So, I will probably be doing his POV and Gavin's in the sequel.
So, if you guys have any second thoughts about the sequel now, please let me know! I understand that OC's can be pretty frustrating in stories sometimes (trust me, I've read countless amazing stories that were ruined with OC's). So, if you have a problem with it, I'll try and tweak it so it'll be to your (and hopefully others) liking.
Also, if you have any ideas that you'd like to see in the sequel, let me know! I'll give you credits like I did with this one and I'll try to incorporate your idea into the story.
Alright, now I wanted to explain some things.
In When All Else Fails and Mending A Broken Soul, you can see my ideas were a little crazy. I wish I could say I intended that, but if I were being honest, I was just doing whatever my brain screamed at me to do.
However, I kind of think that everything tied together very nicely in the end. Those crazy ideas ended up benefitting me in this (thank god).
So, basically, I'm gonna give you a run down of both stories.
In When All Else Fails, Gavin is struggling with depression, however he doesn't realize that he's in a coma and basically whatever he wants to happen can happen. So, the way I kind of interpreted it after I finished it was Gavin was letting his negative thoughts get to him while he was in his coma so that's why all the bad things that happened to him, happened (ex. Michael rejecting his love, he continues to try and kill himself, and he's addicted to alcohol, etc.) So when he's drawing the time that he's destined to wake up, that's why all that good stuff started to happen. He was overcoming his attempt of suicide so his positive thoughts started to take over and run the dream instead. He goes through that weird dream/vision thing because he's going through a kind of rite of passage. (Fun fact, I actually meant that dream to be kind of like Gavin's own little Alice in Wonderland moment but it ended up being kind of like A Christmas Carol. Oops). When he wakes up, he realizes everything was in head and he relapses. You know how the story goes.
Okay, now onto Mending A Broken Soul. I meant for this book to be a struggle between good and evil. A struggle between Gavin's demons and his angels (Michael's his angel XD). So, I was trying to capture that aspect of a struggle within Gavin. You know, he's trying to get through his depression but it's just so hard on him and he relapses instead. I wanted this book to show how hard it is to get through depression and I really hope I captured that.
Also something I'd like to add real quick. Who else remembers that one line in When All Else Fails, when Michael thinks 'At least it wasn't a complete lie.' I originally was going to scrap that but I actually found a use for it in the second book. At the end when it's revealed that Michael only dated Gavin because Geoff told him to, that was the lie. I guess you could say it was foreshadowing the second book XD. SO EVERYONE CAN REST PEACEFULLY NOW THAT THAT'S EXPLAINED!
Okay, now that both books are explained, I can finally rest easy at night now. (However, if you still don't understand what I was going at, please let me know and I'll try to explain it differently. I know these two books were kind of hard to understand.)
Alright, guys... I really need to end this authors note. It's been waaaaaaay tooooooooo long.
So, please let me know what you thought of both When All Else Fails and Mending A Broken Soul. I'm actually thinking about showing them to my English teacher and getting feedback from him (although, I'll have to do some heavy tweaking). If you enjoyed it, let me know! If there was something you didn't like, let me know! I really want to know what you guys thought because as I said, these books are like my children at this point.
If you stuck around for this entire AN, first off, you deserve an award, and thank you so much. It means so much.
Thanks for reading!
