I was laying on the couch watching tv. It was around midnight and I was starting to fall asleep when the doorbell rings.

"Who the hell could be coming here at this time." I say to myself as I walk over to the door to open it.

"Hey, Scott." Mitch says.

"Mitch? Did you escape?" I ask.

"No he didn't. May we come in?" The lady next to him says.

I allow them in and ask if they would like anything to drink but they sent my offer.

"Look, Scott we don't have much time to explain." Mitch starts off.

"What are you talking about?" I ask.

"We can't talk here. She might have the place bugged. Come with us we'll explain everything." The lady says.

"I'm sorry, but who are you?" I ask politely.

"Oh excuse me and my poor manners. I'm Esther Kaplan. Mitch's lawyer." She says.

"Oh well hi. Just let me pack a bag and we can-"

"I'll send someone back for some clothes for you later. For now we need to leave right now." Esther says.

Once we get the police station, Esther and her cop friend, Darrien, lead us to a safe place where we will be sleeping and so we can talk about what's going on.

"Okay so here's what's going on." Esther starts.

"Of course you already know what Mitch is in jail for am I correct?" She says.

"Yes correct." I says.

"Well of course you already know as well is that Mitch says he was set up and that he was falsely accused of this crime."

"Yes."

"Well he told me and the cops everything and his story checks out. He's trying to prove his innocence right now by working with us to track down the person who was trying to kill you at first." She says.

"Did you guys find anything?" I asked concerned.

"Yes. And what I'm about to say many not be the answer you want to hear." She says.

I nodded and tell her to go on.

"It's your girlfriend Kirstie." She says.

"What!?"
