"Cassie, get up, you'll be late!"
The pounding on my bedroom door was the first thing I heard every morning for the last 14 years.
Time for school.

-how I feel about school... A novel by me

I got dressed in a t shirt and skinny jeans, brushing my long platinum hair out to its hip length.
I brushed my teeth... I washed my face... I put on deodorant... I put on my sneakers... I hated life.

Everything was so boring. Same routine everyday, same social challenges to face, same mean jerk wads to conquer.  The only thing I could look forward to was homework. Homework was the joy of school at home... Which is all I could ever ask for.

I looked at the photo on my dresser.
Mom, dad, Cara and I... All together. I missed Cara. She was my big sister, but sadly she went away to British boarding school or something. I trotted down the stairs in search of food.

"MoOoOoOoOoOoM?!?!"
"Yes dear?" My mother asked sweetly, pouring me a bowl of cereal.
"Oh, never mind, you read my mind." I said politely taking a seat at the table with my cocoa puffs.
I checked Instagram because I still had a good half hour before I had to be at school.

"H-HONEY... LETTER.... CARA-" my dad burst through the kitchen door out of breath, waving a yellowish envelope in his hand. I guess my sister wrote to them.

"Oh cool, can I see?" I asked... I knew the answer.
"Well, uh, maybe it's best if you get to school, maybe later..." My mom excused.
"Ugh, fine, I love you guys, see you later."
As soon as I walked out the door they began to discuss... Of course I listened in.
"Dear mom and dad," they read out loud.

"Hogwarts is wonderful as always, but my teachers are concerned for me. They say if I am not able to cast at least one spell by next semester, I'm out. Out as in expelled. I Don't know what to do! I simply can't cast spells on a whim! It's already fifth year and I'm a failure. I love you guys, tell Cassie I said hi. Lots of love -Cara."

Spells? Hogwarts? What the fuck?
I think my family has lost it.
As the letter concluded I decided to get to school before I got a detention, I was already late as it is.

The school yard was filled with jocks and nerds alike. It was December, and the cold air bit at my nose till it turned a pinkish color, contrasting with my pale skin. The popular girls giggled and flirted with the football players, like every teen romance movie. The nerds worked on their homework for the next two weeks, the stoners laid on the snow covered grass and gazed at their purple sky, and I walked through the the crowd trying to go unnoticed.
I gave nicknames to all the people who passed me, along with some commentary... In my head at least.

You're an ass
You need to lay off the foundation
You're never going to do anything
You disgust me

I was a secret bitch.

"Hey Cassie." I heard a deep, slightly cracking voice.
"Danny, to what do I owe the pleasure?" I asked sarcastically.
Danny had been my best friend since I was five and he was six, he always knew what buttons to push.
"You could give me the answers to my algebra homework."
"Ha! You're hysterical." I joked.
"Ugh, I thought you were supposed to be smart?" He playfully glared.
"Wrong sister, Cara's the smart one, remember?"
"Right, how's she doing?" He asked half heartedly.
"Fine I guess, she never writes to me, but she says she'll be home for Christmas, you're coming this year right?"
"Ah... Sorry, but.... Kriss invited me to go to her house for Christmas this year... She says it should be a good way for me to get acquainted with her family..."
Kriss was Danny's girlfriend of about two years now... And I hated her. Always being passive aggressive with me, and always calling Danny when he comes over.
   "I understand." I said faking a smile.
"She's your girlfriend, I get it, really."
"Really? Thanks Cas, you're the best." He said, giving me a hug.
"I know." I admitted into his shoulder.
"See you after break!" He yelled running down the hall to his class.
