Himeko Uchiha is Itachi's child hood friend, along with Shisui. She was given a job by Itachi's father and her father to protect Itachi with her life. Of course Itachi wasn't aware of his guardian angel since that was part of the deal.

Itachi felt himself slowly losing consciousness. The rain was losing its biting touch against his skin and the sky was becoming black spots. His only thoughts were:
'It's done....I've done what I promised. Now...I can sleep..'
He swore he could hear the beautiful chime of a summer bell. The sound slowly became louder as he allowed himself to be carried away by darkness. He allowed himself to be surrounded by it. 'This is it...' He thought. He wasn't sure where Kami would send him, to Heaven or the dark abyss.
But he couldn't care less. He was happy to have been able to stay by Sasuke's side till the last moment.

He drifted into a timeless darkness. He could feel nothing. Hear nothing. He was drifting off into nothingness. He was sure this was his punishment for all that he had done. He would be left alone to suffer alone.
