DING! The sound of my phone going off startles me, distracting me from my homework. I look up to see a friend request from a Jacob Himenez. I clicked on his profile and scanned it. He seemed okay. So, I just accepted the friend request and thought nothing of it, shutting my phone off, I laid it down and returned to my homework.

DING! It buzzed again. I t was a message from the Jacob guy.

"Hey." It says. Feeling a little awkward, I texted him with a quick, "Hey."  Then, got back to my homework.

DING! Frustrated, I shut my math book and took my stuff to my room, knowing he probably wouldn't leave me alone. That was okay though, because I didn't want to do it anyway. I pulled my chocolate brown into a messy bun and grabbed a pair of shorts and a tank top. After I changed into them, I threw myself on my bed and read his text.

"I'm Jacob. I saw your profile and thought you seemed pretty cool and wondered if you wanna hang out."

"I'm Jessie. No I don't mind hanging out."

Laying my phone down, I walked over to my speaker set and plugged up my little IPod up. "Talking To The Moon" by Bruno Mars poured into my room. I sang along to the lyrics.

I plop back down on my bed and pick up my phone.

"Cool. So tell me about yourself," he says.

"Um... My name is Jessie... I have brown hair and blue eyes. I'm tall. I play trombone in marching band, I draw, and I live music... That's pretty much it. I lead a boring life."

"You seem pretty cool to me," he replies.

      "Thanks Ig," I said.

"How old are you?" He asks.

"I'm 14," I reply, "Does that bug you?"

"No. Why would it?" He questions.

"I don't really know... you just seem like an older guy?"

"How old do I seem? lol."

At this point, I'm struck by how easy going and carefree he seems to be. If he sticks around, I could already tell that this is going to be a good friendship.

"Idk. Like maybe 17. You could pass as one, how old are you?"

      "13," he replies.

      "Wow," I say.

      "Shocked? Lol," he teases.

      "Tbh. . . . yes. You don't look 13."

      "Really?" he questioned.

      "You don't."

      "Noice lol."

"Yeah XD. Do you have Kik?" I ask.

      "Yeah."

We exchange Kiks and my phone dings as I got a message from Jacob.

      "Hey, it's meh," he says.

I smile and reply, "Hey meh."

We talked until I fell asleep that night. He made me laugh quite a few times, honestly, I was amazed. It was so cool that he had never met me, nor seen me, except for my profile picture. Yet, he wanted to be friends. And the fact that he doesn't just flat out judge me, made it better. Even though I hardly knew him. I almost felt as though I could be myself without having to worry, for once.

      That was a major relief.

A/N: HIIII! So hey guys! This is my first book on here and I don't really know if this will make sense or not but this story is half true, half not. Does that make sense? Because I actually met this guy in the story.. although not in person...yet... so the conversations we have is actually real. But this isn't exactly how we met. I'm not releasing the specific piece of information. So one more thing, I realize some of you as readers, don't particularly like the style I use in my writing, such as when I say lol or ig or wyd. I say these things because I'm being real about how he and I text. So sorry if this bothers you. OK I think that's it. Thanks and ENJOY!
