Dragon Age: Inquisition

Leliana/Fem! Inquisitor! Reader

'My Nightingale'

Author's Note: I plan to do a summary before the actual story so people know what they are about to read before hand. I think it just makes it a lot easier as well so here we go. :)

Summary: The Inquisitor notices how Leliana tends to stare at her during meetings. And well-- whenever she is near in general. It's off-putting to the Inquisitor, so she puts it on herself to figure out the reason. (Female Lavellan Mage Reader)

It was happening again.

Your ears twitched as you felt a wandering gaze reflecting over you thoughtfully. Red tinged the tips of your ears, embarrassment in plain sight. You thought you'd be used to Leliana's stare by now, but sometimes it surprises you at how nervous you can get around her.

On a regular basis now, the spymaster has found a hobby in staring at you. You personally don't know the reason for it, nor do you know what she finds so interesting about your face.

When you first joined the Inquisition, you thought that it was normal for her to stare. That's what everyone was doing at the time because you were basically a stranger and an elf who happened to be a mage as well.

Basically a possible threat.

Being blamed for the death of the Divine didn't help either.

The interrogating gazes turned into mindful glances as you were eventually declared Herald and soon Inquisitor. It was a fast process so you still considered it to be normal to look.

After a time, it stopped. People got used to you being the herald and a leader. It was nice to be considered one of the sole protectors of the people. It certainly made you feel better about yourself as well.

Though, you started to notice that one stare was way too long and curious of you. One that would make you shiver and flush, for reasons you did not know. Your eyes trailed over to what you think would be the culprit, only to find it was one of your personal advisers; the spymaster Leliana.

The redheaded woman's gaze would leave you as soon as you looked at her. The only time her eyes would meet yours was when you spoke to each other.

This certainly confused you, but you didn't question it. You shook it off as her doing her job.

Months passed, and it was still happening. This time more frisky as you felt her gaze wander over other aspects of your body. The flush on your ears and neck would eventually rise to your face, making it hard to concentrate on what Josephine and Cullen were talking about during meetings.

As of now, you were in a meeting. Just talking about your next move in ways to spread out the influence of the inquisition, receiving more allies and trade.

The prickling feeling of someone staring startled you. You knew who it was without even looking and you tried to pay it no mind. You stared at the pieces on the war table, then glanced over to Josephine as she talked about how she could arrange a trade route through the Frostbacks. Cullen added his input about how he could secure the area with some troops. Leliana stayed silent for a time being, only offering once for the use of her spies.

Their conversations all muddled together in your head, and only one thought came to mind; you needed to talk to Leliana.

You patiently waited for the meeting to be over and for everyone to leave the war room. You called out to Leliana before she left.
