@littlewaterfall is amazing! you can go follow her and read her wonderful one-shots! They gave me butterflies :)

Last night and all morning today, Eleanor had been feeling queasy but she couldn't quite put a finger on it. Reality struck when she actually walked down the aisle towards her waiting husband-to-be who was smiling at her from ear to ear. It was when she took in the sight of all people gathered to join her on the blissful day of her marriage that she concluded she wasn't gratified at all. She didn't feel right. Like something was missing.

It all seemed nothing but absurd and purposeless to her so she simply carried on to her handsome man in a black tuxedo as he held out a hand for her to grab and step onto the platform where the priest and the beautiful bridesmaids stood. As she laced her hands with his, she felt hollow and incomplete.

Getting nervous is supposed to be normal and so she decided pushing all the uneasy thoughts to the back of her mind because what held utmost importance right now was the admirable blue eyed man Eleanor was going to commit herself to.

Minutes ticked by and her anxiety towards the whole situation, mainly her decision, only seemed to proliferate. She tried to be obliviate the tiny voice in her head that kept muttering what blunder of a mistake Eleanor was committing but all her efforts seemed to be in vain.

"Do you Eleanor Calder take Rehaan Javed Malik as your lawfully wedded husband," came the balding man's voice forcibly pulling her out of her rumination. She blinked a few good times in order to process and let the words descend. Dropping her gaze to her hands, she fumbled with her fingers fighting to find words. Trying to catch her voice that she had unwittingly lost.

All she had to do now was utter two words and three letters, 'I do'. How difficult was that? But she knew, she knew exactly what was holding her back. Right that second memories flooded to her as the pieces of incomplete puzzle of her life became distinctively clear. Right that second, she knew what she wanted and with who.

She looked up from her seemingly interesting digits into the eyes of the blue eyed creature who was standing right beside her and wore a puzzled look as to what was taking his beautiful bride so long to answer. She flashed a small genuinely remorseful smile at him and murmured.

"I'm sorry Rehaan. This is not about you. It never was," she spoke with a guilt ridden tone, "But I don't think we belong together."

Rehaan returned her words with a mortified look and Eleanor felt all the more despicable at what she was doing but she did it anyway. For it was her life and if she continued with the wedding, they both would end up with shattered hopes and a pitiful loveless life.

"I'm sorry," she said and dislocated the eloquent piece of jewellery that supposedly should signify their love and promise of being with each other for the rest of their lives. Wiping away a disobedient drop of tear, Eleanor dropped her engagement ring into Rehaan's outstretched palms while he nodded, silently conveying his approval tonthe whole situation.

Turning around all the way to face the exit door, she gathered the ruffles of her pristine white wedding gown in her small hands and decided to make a run for the exit. It may not be a very good decision and she might have to regret it later on, but that seemed least important. One cannot simply choose to give in to the present by living in fear of the future. Besides she felt an indescribable rush of emotions and hormones. Probably adrenaline rush. But whatever it was, she was assertively going to give into it while hoping for the best.

But before she did, she shot a fleeting look to where her mother sat, arms entwined with her father, as if to ask for permission to do what she planned to do next. Her cheeks were crimson from all the blood rush, while quietly sniffing into her delicate kerchief about how her little girl had grown up to so fast and was now getting married. When she did register what Eleanor asked from her, she only gave her a smile that lit all her graceful features, followed by nod. It was even barely a nod but enough for Eleanor to know she was doing the right thing.

Her mother had always been supportive of all of Eleanor's decisions but more than that, out of all her other boyfriend's, Louis was particularly her mom's favourite. Even when Eleanor started dating Rehaan her mom always tried to get her and Louis back together.

So she took the plunge knowing if things did turn out wrong, she'd have no one but herself, to blame. Now, there was no stopping her. But before she could make a run, she was, physically, slightly pulled back by something or rather someone gripping onto her wrist.

"All of us are not lucky enough to be with the person we truly love. To wake up next to them, grow old with them or make everlasting memories. But if you are slightly fortunate, you at least get to see them happy doing what they love or with who they love. So Eleanor, good luck for your tomorrow. I hope you make the best of it. I sure do, without any grudges and if I'm lucky enough, maybe I'll fall in love again," Rehaan spoke as tears brimmed his blue orbs that had now turned deep and lined with sadness.

"And maybe she won't have to run away," he added with a chuckle.

Eleanor softened at his words but not once did she let her decision quiver. She only beckoned, at him, in acknowledgement.

"You will. I know, you will," she said and this time she did not once look back for she knew what she wanted and was now sure of it, more than she ever was.
