the alarm went off the next morning, filling Kijung's small bedroom with the loud siren noise.
she sat up abruptly, finally awakening from the bad dream she was having again, the same one as last night... about last night. she gasped and wiped her forehead with the back of her hand, slumping her shoulders she yawned and relaxed.
Seungcheol pulled her back down and wrapped his arm around her, continuing to sleep. "please babe, a little longer," his husky morning voice travelling through her ears. Kijung smiled, "nooooooo," she whined, "I'm hungry, I'm getting food," she jumped out of the bed and walked towards the kitchen, rubbing her eyes to get the sleep out.
she put four slices of bread into the toaster: two for her and two for Seungcheol. she grabbed the butter, a knife and two plates. she poured two glasses of apple juice, too. she stood around waiting for the toast to pop up, she looked around the room and then looked down.
"ah, shit," she swore quietly as she rubbed her leg, tracing scratches from last night that she left behind.
"ah well," she breathed out as the toast popped, she buttered them and took the glasses and two plates, watching as the butter melted over the toast."something smells good," Seungcheol quickly sat up from the bed as Kijung entered, handing him his glass and his plate of toast, she sat down and giggled.
"toast and apple juice!" she smiled and took a big munch out of her toast.
"yummmmm, thanks babe," he hummed and took a bite from the toast."you know, I'm gonna treat you to lunch today," Seungcheol smiled at Kijung, raising one eyebrow as he took a sip from his apple juice.
Kijung just smiled back, indicating a 'thank you.' she checked her phone on the charger that was sitting upon her bedside table, reading 9:35am.
"okay," she wiped her hands and stood up from the bed, "I'll get ready now, do you have some clothes?" she asked Seungcheol, not knowing if he bought anything with him last night."yep, I got some extra clothes in there," he pointed at his backpack sitting on the floor, getting up and taking his plate to the sink to wash it.
...
Kijung wore something more casual today: black jeans, a White tshirt and a pair of black Nikes. Seungcheol was similar: black jeans, a grey tshirt, a black bomber jacket and a pair of white high top converse. they both looked great, of course.
"you ready to go now?" Seungcheol put his phone in his back pocket and hugged Kijung from behind, resting his head on her shoulder.
she nodded and the couple left her apartment, walking out of the building and down the street, the restaurant wasn't that far away from the apartment building, so they decided to walk.
Seungcheol would pull her closer every now and then, making his grip on her waist tighter, in a protective manner.
"what's wrong?" she asked, looking up at him, seeing worry in his eyes as he looked around the busy streets.
"nothing," he breathed, "just ah, making sure no one will touch you," he bit his lip after saying that, Kijung continued to look at him. she didn't want him to feel this way. she liked to feel loved and protected, but she felt fine today.
"Seungcheol, I'm fine, really. you don't need to worry so much, okay? plus, it's the middle of the day," she looked back in front of her, they had arrived at the restaurant.
they got to their reserved table and ordered their food, Seungcheol decided to continue the conversation where they left off.
"Kijung," he held her small hand over the table, "what happened to you last night was completely unacceptable and I cannot believe I wasn't there to protect you, and it won't happen again, I will do my very best to protect you do nothing like that happens to you ever again, okay?" he looked Kijung deep into the eyes, making sure she understood him perfectly clear.
Kijung swallowed and nodded her head vigorously, "okay, thank you. don't worry about trying to protect me all the time, you obviously can't accomplish that-"
"are you underestimating me, Kijung?" Seungcheol smirked, still looking her in the eyes, tightening his squeeze on her hand. he chuckled, "don't be silly, baby."
the food arrived and they dug in straight away, it looked and smelt amazing and their mouths were watering.
...
the couple returned back to Kijung's apartment, slumping themselves down onto the couch.
Kijung decided to check her phone, "oh!" she announced as she looked at her screen, "I have to go to work tomorrow."
"oh yeah, what time?" Seungcheol asked, curious.
"ahhhh, 5:30pm to 8:00pm, I think I'll be closing up the store," she said, replying to the message sent to her by her co-worker with the same shift as her.
Seungcheol gulped and widened his eyes.
it gets dark around 7:30... she has to close and leave at 8:00... that's late, she has to walk home...
fuck.
Seungcheol thought to himself. he was trying to think of a plan to see if he could go to work with her, or pick her up later... he didn't want the same incident to happen again.———————————————
