Rosie's P. O. V.

Four hours before

"Kyle Acton?"

Sophia leaped out of the chair she had been sitting on and ran towards the doctor that called her brother's name. The doctor's name was Lisa, and she was one of the nicest people I knew.

"I assume you're Mr. Acton's sister?" Lisa asked the young girl standing in front of her with wide eager eyes.

"Yes, is he okay?" She rushed out and I lightly pressed a hand on her shoulder to calm her down.

Lisa smiled. "Yes, he will be perfectly fine." She payed before looking briefly around the waiting room. "Are your parents here?"

Sophia's gaze hardened visibly. "No, not yet. They should be here soon, hopefully."

Lisa's look didn't change, instead it remained neutral and indifferent. "I see." She said. "Well I'll tell you first since you're here and you seem rather eager to hear about his progress. So he's responding quite well to the pain medication we have prescribed him, and we have found a blood donor with the same blood type needed for the transfusion. The only thing we're concerned about— wait Rosie, what are you doing here?" She suddenly focused her attention on me over Sophia's head.

I smiled sheepishly. "I kind of was the one who took the bullet out of Kyle when he was shot."

Lisa's widened so far I was positive they would've popped out of their sockets if she kept widening them, and smiled with a proud gleam beginning to form on her face.

"That's amazing, Rosie. Just by you taking the bullet out, you increased the speed of Kyle's recovery quicker than we could've if you hadn't."

I blushed at Lisa's compliment. I really need to stop doing that, I told myself as Lisa then turned to Sophia and continued her explanation about Kyle's recovering process.

"As I was saying, the only thing we're concerned about is the strain Kyle could put on his muscles which could cause internal bleeding if he stretches them too much. I'm aware he is into sports, correct?"

Sophia nodded. "He plays soccer and basketball. And he works out literally all the time."

I smiled slightly at the thought of Kyle working out every second of every day. It was funny the way Sophia spoke about her older brother. She loved him no doubt, but you could tell that she was easily annoyed by him as well. I was never blessed with a sibling of my own, so I have always envied the strong bond that siblings shared with each other. How some were so close it was like they were one person. They worked together as a team.

"I see. Well, Kyle won't be able to do any of those things for a few months until he fully recovers. I would like to have him return at least once a week, after he's discharged, for a check-up on his progress and to see if everything has healed properly." Lisa instructed as Sophia nodded along. "He will have to stay here for three months while he recovers. We will be constructing X-rays and a series of tests while he's here to insure he's healing okay, and hopefully he will be good to go by then."

A large smile formed on Sophia's face as she sighed in relief. "Thank God, so he's going to be okay? Can I see him?"

"Of course, follow me." Lisa went to turn, but took a step back to face me briefly. "You should go tell your mother about what you did. She will be so proud of you, probably more than I am, kid."

"I should go see her." I agreed. "She thinks I'm at home right now."

"Go on." Lisa laughed and began to lead Sophia down the hallway towards her brother. Suddenly, Sophia ran back to me and wrapped her arms around my body in a hug.
