Ding Dong.

Rosie groaned. She didn't want to see her stupid family. She pulled her covers over her head and started whining. To her, weekends were meant for studying and catching up on late work, that is, if you had any. Weekends weren't meant for fun. That's what summer and lunchtime is for. But still, stupid kids like to do stuff on the weekends and waste their time being stupid. Well, Rosie didn't think of herself as stupid. She didn't even want or have any friends. She just wanted to sit in her room alone and read a novel. She was planning to read To Kill a Mockingbird, since she heard it was a really good book, even though it had nothing to do with actual mockingbird hunting. But now all her plans were ruined thanks to her "birthday party" and her mom. Of course, she knew that her mom had good intentions, but it didn't work out that way. Her mom always pressured her to get out and not to be a anti social freak who's only friends were books.
But that's exactly what Rosie dreamed of being. She wants to be the next Isaac Newton when she grew up. Not be some sorta lame pop star or anything of the sorts.
She took the blanket off her head. Quickly threw on a gray dress putting some flannel over it. Fixed her ponytail, and took a deep breath.
"Two days- you gotta be social for two days. What could possibly go wrong?"
