"Alright, you get a million dollars but...every time you make eye contact with someone, you can't break eye contact unless you kiss them. That means no matter what species they are, you have to kiss them. Even if they are some new species that also has tentacles for lips."
"Well Sir, its rather tempting but there are a few issues. One, a million dollars is such a small amount of money. Two, and most importantly, I don't have lips."
"Ah yes I reckon you would be needing those. Never mind then, your no fun."
Savage continued walking through the empty town with his little floating drone, a light haze filling the uppermost portions of the sky and hiding some of the stars from view.
As they rounded one of the hundreds street corners they had been passing they came face to face with one of the bots that had been repairing the ship. It was preoccupied with the process of cutting a part out of a downed combat drone from the war. The bot lifted its head for a brief moment to acknowledge the two approaching before returning to work on the part.
They strolled past and were finally greeted with the repaired Scrapper ship.
"Well that little guy was pretty talkative don't you think?"
The AI's drone just stared at him blankly before continuing past him towards the ship.
"Well I suppose that's a dad joke if I ever told one. Fuck me for trying to lighten the mood right?"
He chuckled to himself before continuing on with the drone, the ship humming to life on his approach. He did one careful sweep around the sip, checking for anything out of place, his normally playful demeanor changed to business. After he was sure the ship had been repaired correctly he smiled and made his way back on board.
As he entered the cabin he noted the smell of the residual fuel left from the crash.
"Do me a favor and have a bot come spot clean the areas with fuel. I'm getting light headed with the fumes."
"Right away Sir."
A bumbling bipedal robot came up the ladder from the hangar and to the back of the cabin, a rag in one hand and a bottle of cleaner in the other, the bot bumping in objects clumsily as it went.
"It's hard to find good help these days."
He shook his head as he watched the bot for a few moments before returning his attention back to the ship.
"Alright, plug the cube in and lets have a look at the score from today. Also, please bring us up into a high hover so we don't have to worry about the wildlife."
"Please? Well aren't you on your best behavior today?"
"Oh Fuck off! I'm just excited to look at the goodies."
"Alright, alright, bringing the ship up now."
The Scrapper lifted from the ground in a cloud of dust, the purple energy propelling the ship expertly into the sky before stopping to hover in place.
The drone flew over a inserted the blue cube into the console of the ship, bringing its inventory onto the screen for him and the AI to look at. The assortment was large, the AI had been analyzing them and creating names and summaries of their powers.
He scrolled through a few line before stopping on one in particular.
"A Fucking laser knife! That's some Sci-Fi shit...
Wait did you name is 'Bright Light Knife'!?
That's really, really lame....
I will now be known as 'Badass Laser Knife' or BLK for short."
The AI quietly groaned before changing the name as directed, Commander Savage smiling as the name flashed once before returning as BLK. He selected the BLK and pulled it from within the hold, then attached it to a holster on the front of the suit.
He then turned his attention back to the screen and scrolled through the other weapons, finally choosing a long rail rifle and pistol from the selection. He closed the screen and returned his attention back to the ships maps, looking for the next place to salvage parts.
Suddenly there was a large crack from above them in the ship, the sound quickly followed by and enormous booming, little objects and loose materials vibrated within the cabin.
His full attention was turned to the ships display as he looked about for the source of the sounds.
"I swear, if something else happens to this damn ship before I can get back to the hangar with any scrap at all, I am going to be so pissed!"
In front of them the source of the sound revealed itself, the ships onboard targeting system locking on to the object and tracking its descent. It was an enormous black pillar, it look to be of some type of polished metal, the sun reflecting off it brilliantly. The Black pillar descended slowly now, as if it was controlled in its descent, but revealed to form of engine beneath it.
It slowly sank as Savage and the ship watched without making a sound, his eyes locked in wonder.
The pillar touched down on the surface just outside the city, its lower half sinking deep into the planet, the sound of earth scrapping on metal loud enough he felt it within his chest. It sank for a few second before becoming still, its appearance unnatural and alarming.
"What the fuck is that?"
"I am checking all databases now Sir, there seems to be no known mention of something matching its description."
"You think its intelligently made, should we arm ourselves?"
"I am sorry Sir, I again have no idea."
"Well thanks for the help. Let's head back to the hangar and start gathering some reconnaissance on it. I want to be careful; I don't want to die on this planet."
"Good idea Sir, I'll navigate there now."
