KADEN P.O.V

It's been two weeks since Emily and Grace arrived. My mama asked them to stay for a month as she had missed Emily so much, and she has taken Grace under her wing.

My mama sees Grace as a long-lost daughter, but I don't see her as a sister. She's just such a nice, kind, beautiful girl. Who stutters whenever I am around.

Me and Grace have slowly formed a friendship, the other night mama and Emily went out to dinner with some friends, so me and Grace were home alone.

I had asked Cole if he wanted to come around, but he said he was busy. I bet he found a new conquest.

So, after having a shower, I went to the cinema room and searched for a film to watch. As I was flicking through the channels Grace walked in, wearing silk night-clothes which mama had got for her. She was beautiful, she was more than beautiful, she was like the white swan.

Surprisingly she sat down next to me, I asked her "what genre or film do you want to watch". She answered "anything, but please no horrors". Saying no horrors made me want to put on a scary movie more.

"How about The Visit", I asked.

She just nodded her head, she probably didn't know it was scary, but not horrendously scary, I wasn't that mean.

"I'll go get some popcorn, salt or sweet"? I asked.

Grace just shrugged her shoulders, so I got sweet, my favourite.

I walked into the kitchen and got myself a big bowl and two bottles of water. The kitchen staff were off for the night, so I had to get the stuff myself, but I didn't mind, it was nice.

Walking back into the film room, my eyes went straight to Grace to see she was shivering, as her soft fingers tried to warm up her arms.

Placing the bowl and bottles onto the table I walked over to the cupboard to get some blankets, to share. Dropping the blanket over me and Grace, I sat on the sofa.

Grace quietly spoke "thanks".

"I could see you shivering" I answered back.

It had gotten 20 minutes into the film and Grace was getting closer and closer to me.

"I said no horrors", she muttered, probably not meaning to let me hear.

I just chuckled and said, "I'll keep you safe", and I wrapped my strong arms around her tiny body.

She went to say something back to me, however instead she jumped and snuggled into me, hiding her face in my body.

Looking down at her, I felt like she was a missing puzzle piece, she fit perfectly.

The film had finished, popcorn was all over the room from whenever Grace got scared and now, she was snoring lightly on my chest.

I kissed her forehead and carefully carried her weightless body to her bedroom.

When I placed her down on the bed and tucked her in. I started to walk away until I heard a quiet whimper.

"No, please don't. stop, please", my heart broke at her voice, she must be having a nightmare. I couldn't leave her while she was in this situation, I quietly walked over to her and kneeled next to the bed.

"Hey, hey everything's gonna be alright. Your safe, nobody's gonna hurt you", I spoke softly, while stroking her soft hair. My voice seemed to sooth her and she slowly stopped whimpering.

I went to move away, but she grabbed hold of my arm, with her eyes open she said softly "please stay".

I couldn't move myself away from her, I had to stay to stop the pain.

So, until she fell asleep, I stayed holding onto her hand and stroking her face. I didn't want to leave when she was going through pain, but I needed to go.

I tiptoed out of the bedroom and went to my room and threw myself on the bed.

I drifted asleep, tired from the long day.
