The Birth

Making it down to the car almost immediately, Joseph hopped into the back with Vera, tossing his keys towards Cordelia who caught them quickly. "You want me to drive!?" She shouted, clearly confused since the car was Joseph's pride and joy. Joseph nodded. "Yes! I can't calm her down while driving! So you have to and don't make us crash!" He stated, putting his seatbelt on and Vera's. She was still holding onto him, she had dug her fingers into his shoulder by this point. "Joe. I think it's coming" she commented. Joseph allowed himself a minute to scream and have a mini panic session with himself, all silently of course.

Cordelia had of course started the car and was beginning to drive, going fast and being safe with Joe's car was her idea. "Joe. Distract me. I'm not having our baby in this car" Vera added. Joseph nodded his head, by this point he'd made his arm gone limp so he couldn't feel her squeezing his shoulder which was handy really. "Okay. Vera. Remember the first time we kissed? I do. I remember holding you close to me, I insisted on you dancing with me, I said I'd never ask again, we both knew that was a lie but you said yes anyway" he paused, caressing her hand with his own. Vera had her eyes fixed on him.

Cordelia could hear every word of course. "I held your hand then, I swore in that moment that I wouldn't think of anything else but you. We danced together, it was slow, lights were dim. My heart was hammering against my chest. I remember near the end of the song that we met eyes and then we clashed. Our lips touched and I had never felt such happiness in a moment" he continued, smiling of course at the mere memory of it. Vera had calmed herself down and had managed to not make herself push which was grand because she'd fear that she would end up panicking.

Vera moved her other hand to his cheek and she found herself rather sooner than later kissing her fiancée gently on the lips. Cordelia had taken notice and had rolled her eyes briefly. "Hey you crazy pair. Keep it PG" she commented. Vera giggled briefly after pulling away from Joseph. Joseph arched an eyebrow and he moved an arm around his soon to be wife's shoulder. "Yes because I'm that crazy to make love to her when I know fully well that you're in the car" he stated sarcastically. Joseph got a hit in the shoulder with her free hand, moving her other hand away from him at last. Cordelia came to a halt rather suddenly, beeping the horn rather harshly. "Hey! Are you blind!? I'm here! Use your eyes!" She shouted at the car who had almost hit her.

There were some idiots on the road. "How far are we?" He asked, noticing that in fact Cordelia was stuck in deep traffic. Cordelia inhaled. "Six blocks" she answered. Joseph groaned. "Dammit" he replied. Joseph had thought of worse words to say but found it not suitable for his little sister to hear, despite her age. The Holmes lad turned his head towards Vera. "Can you hold on?" He asked. Vera shook her head. "Not for long" she answered. Joseph pursed his lips before he clasped his hands together, coming up with an idea. "There's no way we're going to get to the hospital in time. Delia. Pass me my phone" he stated.

Cordelia furrowed her eyebrows, passing her brother his phone, she didn't know what he was planning but neither did Vera. Joseph rang his less annoying brother immediately. "Sherlock! Is John there? Great. Put him on" he stated waiting a moment for the Army Doctor to say he was there. "Listen John. I need you to walk me through how to deliver a child. Vera can't wait and this stupid traffic is death. Okay got it" he stated, handing the phone to Cordelia who placed the phone on speaker phone. "She needs to lie in a way where she can push successfully" he stated. Joseph took off his seatbelt and Vera's, shifting her so she was indeed lying down. "Does she have anything under her?" He asked. Joseph inhaled. "Like as cover?" He questioned. John breathed in. "Yes! You don't want a mess" he answered.

Joseph laughed. "Yes as a matter of fact I do. I put some covering on because I needed to go and get them cleaned" he stated. Cordelia found herself giggling. "You girl" she stated. Joseph sent her a look immediately. "Shut up, Delia" he muttered. John cleared his throat. "I need you to find a way to, well, make the, you understand?" He asked, he couldn't actually say it the fact of him being a friend of Joseph's brother's and all. Joseph nodded his head. "Oh yeah! I got you" he answered, clicking his tongue before he lifted the bottom of Vera's skirt, sorting out a passage, he had her covered so nobody could see what he was doing of course. "When you see the head, get her to keep pushing and then cut the cord" he ordered.

Joseph nodded. "Got it" he stated, shifting so he was at the end of her, making sure he was at the right position, placing a hand on her ankle. "Ready V-Bug?" He asked. Vera shook her head. "No" she answered with a short laugh. "I can sing while you push my love" he stated. Vera nodded her head. "Okay" she stated and before she knew it she found herself pushing. Joseph inhaled and he began to sing softly like he'd promised to. "There are no words to describe or define what's inside you, your feeling, your vibe. Believe me I've tried to break you down to a science. I see you in my mind and I open my mouth and it's silence. I can articulate a Shakespeare poem. Even though know I didn't know him I can see where he was goin'. And where he's comin' from I can even catch his flow and then I think of you. I don't know where this metaphor is goin'. Cuz there ain't no words you can understand, only lovers can. You can ask the professor and the madman. If they couldn't find the words, no one can. All I've seen, all I heard. When it comes to you there's just no, just no words" the sound of Vera pushing one final time caught Joseph's attention, the male caught the child softly, reaching into the first aid kit near him and he grabbed scissors and cut the ambilicil cord immediately.

The baby cried loudly, which gave a breath of relief from both Cordelia and Vera. "What is the baby?" John asked. Joseph was actually crying by this point, he didn't know why. It must've been his love for both Vera and their new child. Joseph looked to see what gender the baby could be before exhaling. "A girl. She's a girl" he answered, taking off his jacket and wrapping it around his newborn daughter, he passed her to Vera with a huge smile on his face. Vera started crying too, Joseph moved from her end and went to her side. "You did it" he stated. Vera shook her head. "No. We did it" she replied, kissing him softly before her attention turned to the baby. Cordelia finally hung up the phone and began to drive forward slowly this time, or maybe just normally. Joseph and Vera were too busy looking at their child to notice.
