As the bell rang for lunch, I still couldn't stop thinking of Jonah. Something was different about him, and it wasnt just the fact that he wasnt a dick like the rest of the guys at my school. He seemed like he actually cared about me. He probably doesn't, I just like to think that he maybe does.

I got my lunch tray and headed over to sit by my friend Shayla, who was basically my only true friend. We became friends last year in Language Arts. We would always mock my teacher because she was so boring.

"Hey," Shayla exclaimed as I sat down. We were the only two at the table.

"Hey," I said, distracted by the fact that Jonah was sitting at the table beside us. I was staring at him, accidentally, and he saw me. Fuck. He slowly got up and started walking over to me with his tray. Shit, is he coming over here to sit by me?

"Hey Raina," he said as he sat next to me. My heart started beating out of my chest. Shayla made a weird look at me and mouthed "Who is this?" but I ignored her.

"Um, hey Jonah. Need anything?" I asked.

"No, just sitting by you. My "friends" happen to be huge jerks so why sit with them, you know?"

"Oh trust me, I know." I smiled and he laughed.

We sat next to eachother all through lunch, discussing our classes, personal lives, etc.

"So, why do you hang out with Bryan? No offense, but youre so nice and he's no.... not." I smiled, hoping he wouldnt be offended.

"Well, Bryan is my step-brother. Our parents got married over the Summer and I moved here to live with him and his mom."

   What?

"Woah woah woah, stepbrothers? Wow..... he sure didn't act like a brother in class today calling you "new kid" and all." I said

"Yeah, he doesn't want people to know." He stared at the floor. Bryan is such a jerk. Jonah is awesome.

       "Why not?" I asked.

"Well, he's the jock and i'm the total opposite. I'm not into all of that sports shit. I like doing other things with my time." He smiled.

       "Like what?" I asked, curiously.

Just then, the bell rang to go to class. Crap.

"I'll tell you later." he smiled, and got up.

"Okay." I waved goodbye to him.

   I wonder what he does.
