I looked across at him. His marvelous sculptured face was storming in the darkness. He looked out of the window, the brisk wind tussling his hair. He was ignoring me again, that was the 5th time already this week. I looked up at the mantelpiece where our hearts lay next to eachother in a glass case. I remembered when we first met, like any young couple deeply in love, always happy. And we foolishly decided to take the plunge, place our hearts side by side in eachothers care with our trust, and move in. Originally they had thrived; becoming a deeper red than you can ever imagine, finely pumping away like a steam engine on a mission. Life was beautiful. Recently our hearts had been running out of steam and becoming a more faded red like the type you see on an old book. A black substance was seeping out from his to mine and mine to his. It seemed to be poison. We were becoming more irritable and cranky- "THATS IT! I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE!" James shouted thrusting his head around from the window and storming toward the box interrupting my thoughts. I panicked. I knew what he was going to do. "NO! JAMES!" I pleaded. If he removed our hearts without a cupid it would be fatal for both of us. I dived in front of his path, where he then slapped me round the face the force knocking me onto the floor. (I still have that bruise now...) I watched in horror as he lifted up the box and smashed it against the mantlepiece. He glared at me evily "only one will be harmed, as this is your fault, it will be you."

Our hearts lay on the floor, quickly running out of beats and fading into almost nothing. Then he stood on my heart pressing it down suffocating me. I felt the pain surge through my body like an evil tidal wave never bringing relief. He continued to stamp, snapping it into four pieces whilst all the time I was choking for a single breath. I held back my tears, as the black source from my heart changed into white. My life force was flooding into his heart, keeping it alive. Finally he stopped, picked up his fine heart heart and walked out, slamming the door behind him.

I crawled towards my broken shards, the blood slowly flowing out of them. I cradled them in my arms, humming softly trying to comfort my heart better. Then. I passed out, the darkness overpowering me.....

When I woke up I found myself in this weird place, running amongst the corridors.....
