"Come on Seph you've got to get to your stylists!" I keep on remembering those icy blue eyes. Cato should be the least of my worries at this moment though. I currently face the threat of having my skin yanked of my body. I'm being waxed, plucked, and scrubbed raw by three Capitol stylists, or my Prep team. They introduced themselves as Shimmer, Antrix, and Giselle. All three wore the same shade of pea pod green. They actually did look like peas. That put a smile on my face only to have it wiped off by that burning sensation telling me I was now hairless.
They worked on my eyebrows next. My eyebrows naturally had a shape so they only had a little "salvaging" to do. I was hosed down once more before they stuck me in a white room. It resembled one of those examination tables you find in horror films. Just then the door opened and in walked a woman in all red and orange.
"Hello my dear my name is Ember." You have got to be kidding me."Ember? ", I say. "How ironic. A name meaning fire working with a district all about water. " She 's quiet for a moment before saying ,"Well my dear I was so hoping I could have District 12, but I still have big big plans for you!"
Sure she does. She's probably going to dress us up as fish just like everyone else did. She proceeds to put a pearl bra on me? Ok? That's interesting. . Then she puts a high- low skirt on me. It's mid thigh to the front, but has a long beautiful tail going out towards the back. When I move in it the many shades of blue give the illusion of moving water. My long brown hair was placed into more tamed waves flowing down my back. As a finishing touch the blue eyes I looked at every morning in the mirrors were framed by black eyeliner and thick lashes. I looked like a different person.
I looked like a muse that would call the sailors to their end. "Look at you my little Siren!" Hmm, Siren . . . I liked that more. I listened closely to Ember instruct us on how to wake our arms over our heads when we felt the crowd was at its highest point. Apparently by putting our hands through the slits on the sides of our get ups it'll do something "amazing"!
Speaking of amazing Roman looked equally gorgeous in his King of the sea God costume. We were escorted down to where all the Chariots and tributes were. I caught a glimpse of the tribute from the train station, Cato. He was dressed in a gladiator costume that highlighted his extremely toned and muscular body. I'd be lying if I didn't say he looked absolutely gorgeous. He decides to turn around and catch me mid check out session. Damn it I think to myself as my cheeks turn a rosy red. I get a smirk in return.
Thank goodness the announcer shouts for us to get in our chariots and saves me from further embarrassment. I can hear the shouts from the capitol creatures as our chariot rolls out. How can they cheer for children that they're sentencing to death? I know this is all fun and games for them, but seriously? As a result my expression remains stoic. I don't give them a smile or a wave I'm just quiet and clearly angry.
Roman and I finally felt that the crowd was at its highest point. We swished our arms over our heads and it made waves. They collided against each other and formed a 0 4! The crowd went crazy! That was until District 12 rolled out. Their tributes were set on fire!
I can already picture the headlines; Water vs. Fire, District 4 vs. District 12 in the fight for the audience's full attention. All the chariots finally gathered around the main square. President Snow gave his usual speech on how it's an honor to be here etc. I was day dreaming until I felt those eyes on me again. He was just staring at me but his eyes were filled with something else. What could it have been I wonder in the elevator ride up to our floor.
I walked into our apartment to find Finnick going on and on about how much attention we got and how I have a nickname. I asked about it and Vitali suggested that we all sit down and let the TV do the explaining. The second the TV turned on there I was with my intense gaze and underneath it was my nickname. The Siren of Sorrow. They did a recap of my reaping and how I called out my brother's name. They explained how my brother was reaped 10 years ago and killed. They followed that with a recap of his games.
I relived that moment in the orphanage all over again. Sitting in front of the screen seeing the cold blooded District 2 suck the life out of my poor brother. Ceaser went on about how my sorrow could fuel my strive to win and how there could be tension between myself and District 2. HAH! Tension is an understatement. The games haven't even started and we're already giving death stares.
It all just became too much. I needed to escape. I went all the way to the roof. As the elevator opened I saw Cato just sitting over the ledge playing with something. Okay this might be a good time to walk away. "Hey you!" he shouts. I cursed under my breath and slowly turned around. "Heyyy sorry . . . I didn't know you were up here/" He just gave me that smirk and scooted over. "Well District 4 you're more than welcome to come sit here with me. " He was giving me a look that meant danger not kindness yet I still walked towards him.
