I woke up screaming.
"April? April are you alright? April!" Mother yelled from downstairs.
"Yes mother. I'm alright." I said breathlessly.
I rubbed some sweat off my forehead.
"Was that dream really that bad?" I said to myself.
"Well it was quite frightening, I mean, I'd found the author and he came at me, then I woke up."
"Wow I need to stop talking to myself."
'Then you should just think to yourself. That's healthy. Ish. By the way, The Author just wrote that. He also wrote what you are doing and thinking. He wrote your little irks and quirks. He wrote me, the little voice you can't seem to get rid of.'
"Shut up!"
I yelled in anger.
"Excuse me April?"
"Sorry mother! It wasn't for you."
I threw on my uniform for school and walked out the door.
"Bye honey!" Mother called.
"Bye mother!"
'The Author made you say that.' The voice said.
I tried to ignore it but it just kept coming back.
As I walked to the bus stop, I heard a familiar voice.
"Hey April! Over here!" It was my friend, Johnathan.
"Hey Johnny!" I called back.
I walked over to the bus stop and sat down next to him on the seat.
"So, how was your weekend?"
"It was alright. Something peculiar happened though."
"Go on." He said, eager to know what had happened.
"Well my mother told me that my life was a book or something and that some person called 'The Author' has been writing out my entire life and everything in it. And you know that voice I told you about? It keeps coming back, but more frequently."
Suddenly his blue eyes turned brown, then back to blue, but they were glazed over.
"What the hell was that?" I asked.
"A glimpse of what The Author looks like." Johnny said in a monotone voice.
He shook his head a bit and looked at me normally.
"Sorry. I don't know what got into me."
"No its alright."
'Curiouser and Curioser.' The little voice said, quoting one of my favourite books, Alice in Wonderland.
"Oh look, the bus is here." John said, standing up.
I waved it down and waited for it to stop. The doors opened and before we could get on, the driver looked at us and said, "Catch the school bus. It's down the road."
I looked at him then said, "We missed it."
"Well too bad. Now get off the bus."
"No. I am not getting off this bus unless I am at school."
"April just get off the bus." Johnny said, turning to leave.
"No," I said, grabbing his arm. "I said that I am not getting off this bus." I looked the driver in the eye.
"Just let them get on the bus!" Someone from the back yelled.
I did not stop looking at him in the eye until he waved us on.
"Thank you sir." I said politley as I put my bas pass in the machine.
I could feel everyones eyes staring at me but I ignored them.
I sat down and stared outside of the window for the duration of the ride.
