After I got myself cleaned up, I hear the bell ring, signaling that homeroom just started. Shit, I'm late. I run out of the bathroom and towards my homeroom, with Mr. Harris. I look through the tiny window on the door to see if he's in there and he's not. Thank God. So I quickly go in and sit in my seat.
Psst. Psst. Is all I hear after I get out my sketch pad on the my right side. I take a look over and there is someone who I have never seen before sitting beside me. She is really pretty, I thought She has short black hair, a slight tan and really bright hazel eyes.
"Hi, I'm Tessa but you can call me Tess." I just sort of stare at her because no one is ever really nice to me, and for her to be someone new and introducing herself to me is kind of refreshing.
"What's your name?" she asks with a giant smile on her face. It takes me a minute to answer her back, "Um, it's Cricket," I reply.
"That's an awesome name. I wish my parents were that creative. I'm names after my great grandmother."
She is very strange, I thought to myself. Tess seems to be one of those people who can have a conversation with anybody and her smile is somewhat infectious but I still don't smile. I won't let others see me smile.
"Can I call you Crick for short?" she asks.
"Um...... sure I guess," I replied.
I've never gotten a nickname before except for the words "half-breed". Tessa is now just talking a mile a minute and I've been zone out for a while. When i stopped zoning out thats when I hear her say, "What's your phone number so that I can text you?"
I didn't know if she was being serious or not. I have no friends. The only people that have my number are my dad and Connor. Why not do it, I ask myself. I can possibly have a new friend and maybe someone that I can confide in.But, she can't know about Connor's abuse or my cutting.
So, I tear off the corner of a piece of paper and I scribble mu number on it and pass it over t her. "Here you go," I tell her.
"Okay I'll call you after school or maybe we can just go to my house after school and we can do homework and hang out," she said enthusiastically.
"Um........, sure. I'll just have to tell my dad where I am going is all," I explained. My facial expression probably resembled a confused child because I just felt a little astound that someone wanted to hangout with me. I haven't had any friends since elementary school. Tess's face resembled the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland with how big she was smiling.
I looked around and the teacher still wasn't here in class, and it is almost over so everyone is doing whatever they want. Fucking finally, I thought as the bell rang. Signaling that class was over and that passing period has finally begun. I looked in my binder to see what class I had next. While I am walking with my head in my binder I feel someone bump into me head on. Whoever this person was they feel like a damn wall.
"S-sssorry," I stutter out with a wince on my face, anticipating the slap I think I'm going to get.
"It's okay beautiful," a deep, raspy voice replies. I look up and I see a sex God. This being is so fucking handsome it should be illegal. He has sun kissed skin that contrasts with his short curly black hair. But when I look into his eyes, I almost fainted because they were the deepest, clearest pair of blue eyes that I have ever seen. "Are you okay?" Is what I heard when I realized that I was staring and had zoned out over how edible he looks. "Huh," is my lame reply.
"I asked f you were okay?"
"Um......... Ya I'm fine. Are you okay?" I asked.
"Ya, I am fine baby girl," he replied with a chuckle. "What's your name beautiful?" He seemed like such a charmer with his sexy-ass smile and dimples. I averted my eyes to my shoes because the fact that he was so attractive and some much taller that's me was very intimidating to me. I keep asking myself why does he keep calling me beautiful? I've never been called that before by anyone besides my dad. God he is so damn cute. I don't think that I can look at him for too long without drooling.
That is when shit got real for me, I felt his hand on my shoulder. I look up quickly, realizing that I haven't answered his question. What was it that he had asked me? He looked at me with concern in his eyes. "What's your name," he repeated
"Um..... It's Cricket, or you can just call me Crick for short if you want. Either one is fine with me." I sometimes tend to ramble when I am nervous.
Then out of nowhere he starts laughing. I don't know what was so funny, so I look at him with a scowl on my face. "Aww, sweetheart don't give me a look like that. I'm only laughing because of your rambling. Also I like your name it's cute. It suits you." He said as he tucks a piece of my curl mess that I call hair behind my ear. "See you around Cricket." And just like that he was gone. I continued to walk to my next class n a happy daze. I hope that I will get to see him again. If only I knew that I would indeed be seeing him again. A lot sooner than I'd have hoped.
