~~~Still Eva~~~
So, after I plugged up my chromebook, put my towel and washcloth in the laundry basket I keep upstairs, and brushed through my quickly curling hair that is still wet from the shower, I flop onto the bed and start to read. I read a lot, which is why I can quote Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Harry Potter etc.. None of the other squad reads quite as much as me, except for Lyssa. The book I'm reading now is one of her favorites. She reads way more than I ever have. In fact, she was the one that introduced me to Percy Jackson. She kept talking about it until I read it and then it wasn't annoying anymore- I understood it all, and it was the funniest stuff. Lyssa has got to be the smartest person in our grade, yet she's not a giant dork. I can sum her up pretty quickly. Part Keelan, part Hermione Granger, and part Leo Valdez. That's about it. Oh, yeah, and she has completely mastered the art of smart alec-ing. She doesn't use it much, only when she's kidding around. She doesn't ever make teachers mad or anything. I also think her and Keelna would be a perfect match for each other. They are just so much alike, personality wise anyway. If they looked alike, I would never stop looking for a way they might be related. It would be funny if they did start dating though- it would be the super-smart and the super sports guy. Sounds cheesy. But, hey. What do I know?
My phone starts ringing, and I exhale in relief that it isn't turned up full volume.  It's playing one of my favorite songs- Bye Bye Bye by NSYNC. I know it's old. Does anyone really care?
I glance at the screen before picking up, and see that it is Braxdon calling. It's kind of late, but It's not like I was asleep.
"Hey Braxdon."
"Hey Eva." His voice is shaky. That's not right, unless he's half asleep or something.
"You okay? You sound kinda sick."
"Well..." He pauses for a second or two. "Not exactly. I knew this wouldn't be an easy call."
"What is it Brax?"
He hesitates for one more second. "Eva, after you left the park, Keelan and I were headed home and this drunk ran a red light-"
"-You guys were in a car accident? Are ya'll okay? Was there anyone else hurt?" I interrupt. No. No, no, no. Ran a red light? That can't be good.
"Yeah, we were. But it was just us and the drunk driver. When they hit us, we didn't hit anyone else. I'm fine, but Keelan broke some bones-"
"Keelan broke bones?" I interrupt again.
"Yes Eva. And the drunk driver wasn't even hurt, that we know of. He didn't even stay after he hit us. He just kept on driving. He hit us pretty hard so I'm not sure how he kept going, but he did."
"Are you sure you're fine?" Of course he isn't.
"Eva, I'm fine. I didn't even get much of the impact, except for when the truck flipped-"
"Flipped!?!" Braxdon, you liar. You are not okay. "Where are ya'll?"
"We are in ECM, but wait and come in the morning. Go ahead and get some sleep."
"Yeah right. My two best friends are in the hospital because of a huge car crash that flipped Keelan's truck, one with broken bones, and another with injuries that he is in denial over. Yeah, I'm just going to go right to sleep. I'm on my way."
Braxdon sighs. I can almost see him rolling his eyes. "Should've known. I'm in room 225, but I don't know where Keelan is, they just told me they were fixing his broken bones."
"Walking out the door now. See you in about half an hour. Bye." I grab my phone charger, my hairbrush and hair ties, and my jacket and throw them all in my drawstring bag. I throw it on my shoulders and start to open my bedroom door, and then realize I'm wearing pajamas. Well, the shirt is okay, but I quckly change into an old pair of sweatpants instead of gym shorts.
I go down the stairs as fast as I can without being too loud. I swing by the kitchen and write a quick note and stick it to the counter.
    10:34 pm. Braxdon called a few minutes ago, said him and Keelan were in a car accident. He said they are okay, but Keelan broke some bones. Gonna run down there and check on them. I know it's late mom. Don't worry. I'll explain more later.   Love, Eva.
I quickly jog outside and hop in my car. I know better than to speed, so I obey the limit, but I wish I could go faster.
After about 30- 40 minutes, I pull into the hospital parking lot, and my nerves get the better of me. I jog inside as fast as I can, waiting to see my friends.
