Quinn
My body is frozen. The scenario in front of me is so unrealistic, I never thought Asher and Harry would meet like this. Asher's back is to me while Harry's eyes seem to devour my still naked body. I hug the sheets tighter and closer to my body, so I can't feel his gaze pierce my skin.
"Why aren't you answering your phone?" Harry asks ignoring my boyfriend.
I hug my body, waiting for Asher's accusatory eyes at Harry's words.
Instead of that, when Harry attempts to get into the house, Asher's crosses his path and blocks his was to me. I find myself looking at both man, as they kill each other with dead stares.
"I have no idea what business you have with Quinn, but don't come into the house"
Harry's laugh is dry and angry.
He shouldn't have come here in the first place. What did he expect would happen after I left the car? I don't have any intention of going back to him, or leaving Asher.
"Do you think you are a knight in shinning armor?" Harry asks, stepping closer to his prey.
I lay against the door frame for support, my legs suddenly weak and unable to hold me any longer.
Asher doesn't step back, despite having Harry right in front of him. He is taller than my fiancé for a couple inches but that doesn't make him step back.
"Who the hell are you?"
Another bitter laugh with a couple of dark eyes consuming me this time.
"That's right, Quinn, who am I?"
I hold to whatever is around me tighter, my heart jumping out of my chest at the easy lie that leaves my swollen lips:
"No one"
I can see the hurt and rage in his eyes before he turns them back to Asher. I want to step in and protect him from the danger Harry is, but I can't move from where I am.
This wasn't supposed to happen. I was going to talk to Asher about all this soon enough. Why did Harry have to step in? How am I supposed to tell him now about my past, and what he saved me from?
"You know? She kisses better than she did some years back, should I thank you for that or maybe she's been also practicing with other guys?"
I freeze even though I know I wasn't going to be free of punishment after my words. I can't see Asher's expression but Harry's smile speak for itself: the words have hurt my fiancé deeply.
For the first time, the panic of being left by Asher makes my feet move closer.
"Asher..." I whisper in an attempt of calming the uncontrolled sea.
His fists are clenched when I get to his side, everything in him close to the breaking point I have never seen him at.
"Leave our house" he whispers a deadly order.
Harry is out of control when he doesn't turn around and take the door out of our lives for good. Instead, he steps a little bit closer with a half smile adorning that beautiful face.
One of his dimples is showing but the tenderness it gave me years ago is far gone, replaced by the fear of what is about to happen.
