It was only a few hours after the University had opened. The morning birds were singing their melodies as the sun hovered above the horizon in the aquatic sky.
"Ohayo gozaimasu!" (Good morning. [Formal])
"Ohayo, ne~!" (Good morning. [Informal])
Everyone socialized and enjoyed the distinct serenity of morning and the enjoyable weather.
Kohana walked past the doorway of the Student Affairs President, Mrs. Katana's office and greeted loudly. "Good morning~!" she smirked.
Mrs. Katana perked up and pushed her glasses further against her face. "G-Good morning Misses Kohana!" she replied with shock in her tone.
Kohana placed her hand over her lips giggling, as she continued further down the hallway. A little ways further down the hallway, Kohana's eyes fell upon a familiarly handsome face and her eyes widened a bit before casting downwards.
'Oh no...' she thought.
Accompanying the man were three other men who were chatting together. As they walked past Kohana, she held her breath, hoping to go unnoticed.
Nothing happened.
The sound of their conversational laughter echoed from behind her as she went on her way, and sighed deeply with ease.
'That was too close...'
Throughout the day, as classes came and went, she studied and stayed silent most of the time. If she wasn't soaking in the lecture as the audio learner she was, she drew flowers in her notebook or stared out of the window, in thought.
Something was different today.
A neighboring student had dropped a pen that rolled right into her foot.
After blinking a few times, she moved to retrieve it but bumped heads with the owner. They both rubbed their bruises and groaned. When the other woman realized, she immediately apologized with fear and respectfully bowed her head.
"G-Gomenasai Kohana-chan!" (I'm sorry. [Formal with friendliness])
"It's okay, it's okay~" Kohana smiled with a soft closed eyed smile.
Some others who were watching, started rumors. It was strange to see the infamous temperamental woman being so docile and kind for once.
'Maybe she changed bodies with someone else...' an onlooking student murmured.
Completely out of tune with the chattering of her surroundings, Kohana picked the pen up and handed it to the female student who dropped it.
The other woman hesitated for a moment before nodding and taking what was hers with a more genuine smile. "Arigato gozimashita." (Thank you very much. [Formal])
Casually, Kohana continued facing forward and listened to the professor.
"And so, during the 90 year reign of Emperor Makoto there were the least amount of wars that had taken place in all of our country's history..."
Kohana's hazel eyes drifted out towards the window at the hummingbird that buzzed around a bush that was blooming with hydrangeas. She observed it pensively, as it took a drink of nectar and moved around to the nearest blooms for more.
Then before long, class was over and everyone was dismissed.
'Time is moving so fast and it's almost evening... I haven't had the chance to enjoy the beautiful weather we've had today...' she thought to herself as she walked down a corridor.
