It was a quick flight back home. It would've been shorter if I hadn't taken a detour through the clouds for the little girl. What was her name?...
"So, I was thinking about your name and all, and I thought it wouldn't be very nice to call you "little girl", right? So, I was wondering... what is your name?", I hadn't heard her say a word since Scum was feeling her up.
"... Aiko. Aiko Harumi..."
"The lovely girl of a beautiful Spring..."
"Huh?"
"That is what your name means. Oh, forgive my manners, my name is Masahiro Satoru, meaning "enlightened one of justice"."
"I- I could tell...", She looked up at me for the first time.
"Ha, ha! Your right, Spring Girl!", She beamed, "You don't mind if I ask, but, who named you that?...", Her smile faded and turned into a frown. I saw a tear go down her face, "Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked. You don't have to tell me."
"No, no. It's fine. I was named after my father. My mother passed from giving birth to me, so, I didn't know her well.... I loved my father. He would spoil me to death! Well... up until lately.... About two months ago he...", She trailed off. I understood.
"So... you've been on your own for about two months, huh? How did you survive on the streets?"
"Well... after father... I packed a backpack with food and took his money.", She looked at the stars above us, "I'm sorry Papa.... I lived on the streets with other homeless people. They also took good care of me. Sometimes I would get some extra food from some of them and they would protect me too. But, yesterday, I had strayed too far from them and got lost. I don't know how to get back to them."
"You... want to go back?", she nodded, "But, what about food? A home?"
She smiled up at me and gently placed a hand on my cheek, "It's okay, Satoru-san."
Wow... I'm quite flabbergasted! I could not allow this!, "What if I said you could live with me?"
"Uh...", Her face flushed a bright red color. I did too, but, smiled anyway.
"Don't worry, I'll find them and tell them that you're living with me now!"
"Hmm... fine.", She looked at me again, "Th-thank you..."
