I landed on my balcony and opened the sliding glass door. It had stopped raining and we were pretty much dried off. Aiko slowly walked into my apartment. When she reached the middle, she turned back to me, "Wait, wait wait! You have wings?! How did I not notice?..."
I chuckled, "Yes.", I walked inside and sat on my bed and spread one wing, "Would you like to look?"
"Yes, yes, yes!", She hopped up on my bed and gently touched my wing. She was stroking the bone part when she asked me a question, "Are you an angel?"
I peered down at her, "No.", I saw her shrink back in fear. Maybe it was the look I was giving her or the fact that I was no angel that saved her life. I softened, "No, I was, though."
She sat down next to me and looked at me like she was expecting something from me. I was puzzled, "Uh, what do you want, kid?"
"A story. Your story.", I guess that was fair. She did tell me about her deceased parents...
"Hm... well... fine. But, you can't tell anyone, okay?"
"Okay!"
"Well, it all started in the Overworld or the Heavens. I was a good pupil, always got good grades, never broke any rules. Especially the Black Rules, but, that day, I broke two. It was my first assignment, protect a human female on Earth."
"What were the two rules you broke?"
"The first I broke was falling in love with her. I had almost spent a year with her, so we both got to know each other. The second was failing my purpose, and my purpose was to protect her from some demons that wanted her blood for sacrificial power. They... they killed her, but, never got to her blood. When I got back to the Overworld, I was stripped of my purity. That's the reason why I have black wings, a scythe for a weapon, and kill humans. I was exiled to Earth because I had broke two Black Rules..."
"But, the demons never got her blood, so, that means you only broke one?", It sounded more like a statement.
"Ahh, yes, your right. But, one, I broke one Black Rule still, and I had failed my purpose. That was to protect her from the demons; not her blood. So, that makes two. I'm just lucky that they didn't strip me of my wings. It also helped that I was a favored pupil. Many begged The Goddess to give mercy, but, rules are rules..."
"Oh...", she said sadly and yawned.
"Are you tired?"
"Yes..."
I folded my wings carefully behind me and lied down. Then patted next to me, "You can sleep up here with me since I don't have any other bedding supplies."
I heard a little noise coming from her and she said, "U-uh, I can just sleep on the floor! It's alright!"
I don't understand what was up with her, but, I said, "No, no. I insist. And in the morning, we can go out and buy you some new clothing and bedding and all kinds of stuff..."
I heard her hesitantly crawl up to where my face was and lie down. I looked over and she was curled up in a ball, her back facing me.
