3 Months Later:

"Mom, I need help!"

I can hear mom rushing upstairs, she smashes through my door,

"Honey! What's wrong? How can I help?" she comes over and grabs my hand, "what are you looking for?"

"My bag, my bag, I can't find it anywhere, todays my first day back at school I have to find my bag." No one ever knows what it is like to one day, be playing goalie for your school soccer team, being in high school and being in love for the first time and then one day later being mugged, beaten up, blind and in a wheel chair. My sight has finally started to come back, they say "I'm a miracle." Well I don't feel like much of a miracle, a miracle would have been this never happening to me, or me dying instead of having to live the last three months, blind and wheelchair bounded.

"Honey you know you don't have to go back today, Lucas has been really good with bringing you your work and helping you with all your classes, you don't have to go back yet, if you're not ready." Lucas—

"Mom, I'm fine, I just can't reach the back of my closet to get my bag I swear, its up there. Don't worry, Robyn and Taylor are both going to be at school today and are going to be able to help me." I try and explain to my mom, how she doesn't have to come and hold my hand all day long. I haven't been out of her sight for more than two minutes in the last three months.

"Its okay I already talked to Mr. Smith and he said he can give you a ride to school and help you in and out and around school just so I don't have to worry. And follow you around all day. But he said there's no rush, so if you want to stay home for a few more days you can..." Will she be mad if I just roll on past her throw the doors and try scaling myself down the stairs, instead of listening to her talk. She may think I'm suicidal though.

"Mom, I. Am. Fine. Now, please grab my bag out of by closet and put it on the back of the rolling turd (that's what I call my wheelchair) so I can finish getting ready for my first day back after-- -- -- my first day back." I still have no recollection of what exactly happened that night, I remember walking up in the ambulance and Luc being there but not being able to see him. I can still hear him yelling at the medic "why can't she fucking see me," a shiver goes down my spine.

Great, another car ride with Luc, this should be interesting.

"Mom can you help me, I'm ready I just need help down the stairs." Mom helps me lift out of the wheelchair and holds on to me,

"its okay I got you," CREEK, is that the door?

"hello, Ms. White are you home? How's Am—" he sees me, trying to get down the stairs, with the help of my mother. I can't even walk by myself- this is so frustrating. He drops his bags and runs up the stairs to meet me,

"Here, Ms. White let me do it, you grab her wheelchair. Amelia, how are you? I'm just going to swing you like this-" and he lifts me up and carries me down the stairs, no, no, no, no, no, no, this is NOT suppose to be happening like this. I can feel his hand resting on the lower part of my back where my shirt rides up. I whisper in his ear,

"let me down now Lucas, I'd rather fall then have help from you!"

"its nice to see you're finally talking to me," he smirks at me, that smirk. We get to the bottom of the stairs; mom is grabbing something from upstairs. We cannot tare our eyes off of each other. I am still in his arms, staring deep into his beautiful eyes, when I hear mom clear her throat,

"here Lucas, you can set her down now." He places me in the chair.

"Lucas, would you like some breakfast? We have not eaten yet. Amelia was having a hard time getting her bags together for her first day back."

"Your coming back today, that's good, I've missed- I mean, everyone has missed you in class, I know your friends and teammates will be extremely happy to see you-" he walks past me and bends down to my ear level and whispers,
"I know I am," I giggle, I cannot help it. He has this affect on me.
