Leaning back, I stare at the stars, admiring them. Titling my head, I see a shooting star making its way across the sky leaving a bright whiteish yellow trail behind it. Smiling softly, I make a wish. I wish... I wish, that, I could leave here, start somewhere new and put everything behind me.
After admiring the stars for a little while longer, I glance down at my small, black leather watch and see that's it's now eleven o'clock. Deciding I've been up here long enough, I hop up and start heading towards the ladder that attaches to the small balcony off the attic. Climbing down the ladder, I notice a small cemented building like structure with numerous barred windows. An impulsive decision later and I'm now approaching the structure. It looks old, like century's old, the bars on the windows starting to rust. The small building is circular, and has five windows at regular intervals around it, all barred with some strange metal. Peering inside one of the windows, with the moonlights help, I see that the inside is cemented as well and that the outside walls are a lot thicker then I first thought. There seems to be no place inside the building moonlight doesn't touch save for a single area on the other side of the building, that's shrouded in the dark. Stepping closer to the building, I grab on to the bars and look closer, trying to see if there is anything in the darkness.
Within seconds I'm lifted off the ground, a strong hand coming from within the bars, clasps around my throat, blood red eyes staring into my own blue ones. My hands go up, grasping at the hand that's choking me, trying to pull it away. My struggles become weaker as the hand tightens back around my throat cutting off my air supply. Bringing my eyes up, I lock onto the monsters own blood reds ones, my eyes going dull as I start to lose consciousness. I hit the ground with a thud; my hands instantly go to my throat, sucking in lung full of air, after lung full of air. Looking up at the creature I, for the first time, notice it's long pearly, white fangs and the hungry - no starved - look in its eyes. Scrambling up I back away from the cell quickly, before turning around and sprinting to the pack house.
Looking down at the cell from the comfort of my house, I glance down at the veins on my wrist. Another impulsive decision later and I'm heading back towards the cell, this time with a half filled cup of my blood. (If you haven't figured it out already, I'm a very impulsive person).
Approaching the cell I reach in, place the cup on the inside of the bars, before quickly retracting my hand. Backing away from the cell I sit on the ground and wait.
Five minutes, that's how long it takes for the vampire to move forwards and grab the cup. He doesn't drink it though, he just sniffs it.
"It's not poisoned you know," I call out.
He glances at me, well more like stares, before looking back at the cup, shrugging, he downs the contents in a few gulps. Looking back up at me he tosses the cups and replies, "why?"
"What do you mean why?" I ask, slightly confused by his question."Why did you give me some of your blood? You could have left me be, pretended you never saw me. Instead you come back with a cup of blood, your blood. Even after I tired to kill you. Most would not do that." He states. His eyes roaming my face, like he's studying every detail.
I smile at him, despite the circumstances."No one deserves to starve. It doesn't matter that your a vampire, nor does it matter that you tried to choke me, I probably would have done the same in your situation. Tried to strike out that is, not actually kill someone." I look into his eyes, expecting the dark, blood red colour, I am surprised to see that they are now a deep black colour. "Why are your eyes black now? They were red before," I question, unable to help myself.
He chuckles, looking amused by my question. "They were red before because I was starving and angry. Though I am still immensely hungry, I am no longer completely starved. I think my reasons for being angry are plainly obvious."
"How long have you been in here?" I ask, insanely curious about the creature in front of me, despite what he did not half an hour ago.
"I'm not entirely sure, for an immortal creature time is not something one can easily keep track of as, after a while, it all starts to blend together. Though, if I had to take a rough guess I'd say about,15 decades, give or take a few years."
Frowning at his reply, I huff angrily. No one deserves to be locked up in such a small space for that long. Looking up at him, I take a few minuets to study the man I front of me. He has dark black hair, and eyes the same colour, that seem as if they are staring straight into your soul. The shirt he is wearing is years old, if the condition it is in is anything to go by, but the jeans seem relatively new, if worn. Through his clothes it is quite obvious that he is heavily muscled but lean, not like those muscly jocks that look like their on steroids. (No offence meant by the previous comment). He's quite tall, though how tall I'm not quite sure, considering I can't see him properly to get an accurate guess, but off of what I can tell I'd say definitely over six feet. Glancing down at my watch I see that it's now past one am, my eyes widen. "Sugar." Looking up at him, I quickly get up, "sorry, but it's getting late. I'll see you tomorrow night." Giving him one last smile I grab the cup, turn around and rush off towards the pack house for some much needed sleep.Caden's POV
I can't stop thinking about the human I just met. She's different, and I'm not entirely sure that's a good thing. For one she didn't seem that scared of me, and I tried to kill her! For another, she actually gave me some of her blood. Not many, if any, would do something like that. She actually seemed concerned about me, which nobody in this weak, pathetic excuse of a pack is. The only reason I haven't died yet, is because of Benjamin, the previous alpha. He feeds me, not much, just enough to keep me alive, and gets me clothes every once and a while. Back when I was captured this pack was a formidable force, not enough to capture a vampire like myself, but a formidable force nonetheless. The only reason they caught me was because I was already weakened from fighting rogue vamps. The previous alpha was much the same, it wasn't until that pup Xavier took over, that this pack went to hell. I chuckle thinking about how easy it would be to break out once I get enough energy, that is if the human keeps feeding me. I might even take her with me as a food source once I get out. I do hope she survives until then.
