"Stop defending them!" Ace yelled, "They hate us! Why should we show them any mercy?" "Ace," Beth said calmly, "they aren't all bad..." But she was cut off by Ace, "You know what they did to me!" "Things have changed!" Said Beth, "For example, I met this girl today, she was a detective, she was trying to find out what happened to a woman who died in an office building yesterday. They care about each other, surely they could care about us!" Ace's tone changed to a frantic one, "this detective, what does she think happened?" Beth laughed, "She thinks it was vampires!" "What?!" Said Ace. "Yea," said Beth, "but it's fine, because we didn't actually do it. Right?" "Wrong." Replied Ace, "Take me to this detective."
"Come on Lucy," said her partner, "go home. You can't work on this case all night." "Just a few more minutes." said Lucy. "Fine," sighed the cop, "but I'm going home." He dropped his empty cracker wrapper on the trash and left.
Beth and Ace walked to the door of the Police station. "Ace please. She didn't do anything it isn't her fault." "She has to die," said Ace, "If they find out what we are, that we exist... they'll kill us all." They walked to the maintenance room. "Fine," said Beth, realizing she couldn't win this one, "just kill her quickly" "I make no promises" said Ace as she flipped all the switches in the fuse box. The room went dark.
All the electricity in Lucy's office went off. She heard footsteps in the hall. "Who's there?" she called. "Goodbye, Detective." said a shadowy figure. Lucy screamed as the figure attacked her, going for her throat. Lucy caught a glimpse of a second figure slipping out the door. She struggled against her attacker. The lights came back on. The girl stopped attacking Lucy "What are you?" Lucy asked, feeling the marks on her neck, identical to those on the victims neck. The girl's eyes widen realizing she can't kill Lucy. She runs.
