We pulled up the the church and sat in the car. Jack had a couple flowers in his lap. I know, Yami tried to kill us. He hurt Jack. He shot me in the shoulder. I know. But I've loved him for so many years. I've known him for longer. Part of me wanted to stay in the car. Start it up again and leave. And I guess any rational person would do that. But instead we got out and walked to the door. I looked inside only to see a few people here and there. Most of them were crying, the others just looked angry. I sighed and opened the door. Everyone looked at us almost instantly. I smiled shyly and scanned the room for Yami's parents. They caught my eye and hurried over. The first thing his mother did was hug Jack. He groaned but hugged back.

"Oh, I'm so sorry! Are you feeling better?"

Jack nodded. "Better than yesterday."

They motioned to one of the pews and we sat down next to them. As I sat down, someone behind me growled. Jack shot a glance at me and sat down.

The funeral itself was long, but most of them are. I tried not to cry, as did Jack. And for the most part, it worked. But the sight of his mother crying hysterically broke my heart. I still didn't cry, I just felt so bad. She didn't deserve this. As someone who's had experience with suicide victims, I knew how she felt. And I still do.

When it was over, we were two of the last people to leave. Jack had snuggled up next to me and laid his head on my shoulder. The only other person was his uncle I believe. He came over and sat in front of us, leaning over the pew to talk to us.

"You guys are the one he tried to kill?" He asked in a raspy voice, avoiding eye contact.

Jack squeezed my hand, signalling something was gonna happen. I pulled him closer and nodded. His hand grabbed my shirt and pulled me closer. Jack sat up with instant fear in his eyes.

"So you're the reason he's dead."

"What?!" I scratched at his hands to let go, get out of his grip.

"It's your fault!" He pulled me over the end of the pew and into the aisle. He threw me down.

"I know! I know it's my fault. All of it is."

"Damn right. Now you're gonna pay." He picked me back up and threw a punch at my head.

I groaned. "Jack. Go outside."

The guy laughed. "Yeah, I'll see you in a minute.. Lemme finish him first."

Jack shot up. "Don't fucking touch him."

He laughed again. "What are you gonna do about it?" He punched me again.

"Jack! Just go get in the car!" I croaked. His eyes showed fear but he obeyed and quickly limped to the door.

"Make sure you get some distance! I wanna chase you down!"

I curled my fist and punched him in the gut. "Your whole family is fucking insane."

He stood back up. "How dare you-"

"I see where he got it from. His mother and father were too sweet."

"What?"

"Guessing he spent a lot of time with you. You changed the way he thought."

"I d-dunno what..."

"You're probably the reason he did it!"

"NO!" He screamed.

"You made him think that way. You made him think everything was his."

Sirens went off outside and I could hear cops hurry out.

"He shouldn't be dead. Our plan should've worked!" He growled at me again.
